Timing Is Important

I watch ABC's World News with Charles Gibson on a regular basis this is why I am wondering why can't Channel 13 time out their local news and commercials so that they can join the network on time?

Almost every night 13 joins the network late. There is no excuse for that at all.

???

How late are they joining? It could be producer error... or it could be a discrepancy between the clocks at WHAM (where the cast & crew are) and Syracuse (where master control is located). Or perhaps some sort of lag between the cities.

You should call or e-mail them and see what they say. Timing out the show should be like second nature for a market 70-something 6pm producer... so I doubt its their fault personally, but you never know.

Most stations also keep airchecks of their news, so there should be evidence of these problems on tape. If you're armed with specific dates when you call to ask for the News Director, it'll be easier for them to find the proof that you're right and take action.

Sometimes they join the network right in the middle of Gibson's opening story. And trust me Bob, nobody from 13 is going to give a damn what I think. I just find it really amateurish that someone in the production room can't time out a newscast to save their ass.
