tips for processing with a composite stl

What I'm thinking is, there may still be stations running digital gear at the studio, but using an analog STL, then back to digital at the TX site where the processor is. Sorta like AD - DA - AD. So of course there are holes for noise in such a setup.

I'm guessing those manufacturers are essentially saying don't do that?
