What a month, Thank God January is a slow promotions month...with budgets and annuals it is crazy.
Anyway, I have this client who spends a nice chunk every year, and every year they look for cool promotions. The only thing is they always want fresh ideasand after a 6 years I think I'm about out of ideas for these guys. They sell tires...I have done Ultimate Winter Survival with snow tires from the client,on location PS2 Challenge with some crazy Nascar Game,Nascar Promotions, A slot car challenge, remotes, sponsorships, community events, etc. Looking for any ideas floating around.
The client is a local chain, they do mainly Tires. Goodyear, Kelly, etc.

I'm still kind of woozy from just waking up, but how about a lugnut loosening/tightening contest? Might work in a NASCAR market/region. Ties into the product. Of course, you need to use one of the old-style folding wrenches to make it harder.

It could be cool to do an Women's Survival Class or something of the matter. Get the people at the store to show how to change a tire, what to do if the bolts are stripped, how much pressure should be in a tire, etc. Maybe you could include information ab/ how to check the oil in the engine..how to change oil?

You could also do a He-Man Olympics thing where all of the games are done with ties (Tire Throw = discuss; Tire Lift = BarBells; Tire Run = Tire Run:); etc.) Have the Tire company provide the tires for all of the games and let them be the main sponsor and then tie in other companies for prizes, etc. Could be interesting NTR if developed further.
Edited by PromoGirl11 on 01/18/06 10:08 PM.

When I was with Emmis, we had the same situation and it was even a tire store! Small world.

Depending on your demos:

SUPERBOWL TIRE FOOTBALL TOSS...forget using the tires as the incentive. Use them as a device in your promo. A football toss thru the tires with a chance to win Super Bowl related prizes including.."The Drive of Your Life"..a new set of Goodyears!

TIRE TOSS...good foor moring shows. It follows the same premise as all those other "throwing" contests (cow chip, etc). The farthest wins! Yeah! Simple. and Stupid.

let me know if you have questions! [email protected] Good Luck!
