"Titanic" Gets New Skipper; I Mean WXKS-AM Gets New PD

Radio-info's news board indicates that Paula O'Connor will be assuming duties as WXKS-AM 1200 "Rush Radio"'s new PD, replacing Bill George. She was the original PD of WTKK-FM when it switched from White-bread jazz to talk several years ago. Shoul Jeff Katz be perusing the help-wanteds?

Don't know but it's a sign they're committed to the format and it's unlikely we'll tune in to hear
they've gone Spanish. Hey there's an idea for Jeff Santos to pursue, radio liberal/progressivo
en espanol? :) (Only this week did I find out that not only is there ESPN Deportes but apparently
Fox "Deportes" exists; can't remember if it's TV or radio or both)

That depends on whether or not there's an animosity between Jeff and Paula... Of course, with 1200 recently going from 0.7 to 0.3, unfortunately, somebody had to fall on the sword... How many hosts currently on 96.9 are holdovers from the Paula O'Connor era? If they ever exit, they'll most likely end up on 1200 eventually...

How far back do Jim and Margery go? Severin may have been a hire by her; I do know he was on from their first day as all-talk in Sep of 99. I do remember Jay being on RKO 10-mid before that. Sev and J&M have contracts till around 2013.

why on earth would jeff katz be looking? take a look at the station, built completely around rush and rush is the number one show on it followed by jeff katz. i'd be looking at middays and afternoons for any changes.

Clear Channel wants to clear its shows/ads and I doubt they would drop Beck or Hannity, etc. If they had some money to spend they could conceivably go local in one of those slots...

Doubtful (esp. since he could wind up staying with RKO in the end due to $), but one could imagine late 2012: Katz, Beck, Rush, HOWIE CARR, Hannity tape delayed.... Again far fetched but...

And if so: Howie network? WHJJ, WTAG, WGIR, WHYN*... etc. (and any other stations from the current "network")
*--all owned by CC, and all could conceivably delay Hannity till 6...

True though I believe those stations weren't owned by CC who may want to keep their own
product/distribution on

WPHT: CBS
WOR: Buckley

And if you miss the first five minutes, you can catch them again multiple times during the remaining 175 minutes of his show... ::)

Haven't heard too much of him since he's opp. Howie but I wonder if he still gets calls from the war vet Marty, does a chumpline sort of deal (only live), and tosses in tons of Lobster Gram Ruth's Chris
ad-lib ads...to be honest many on right complain about his radio show but he's still a solid #2 to Rush I think

It's a drive-time show...meant for shorter listening spans.
