I miss Pat Ryan. 'Nuff said about that.

On the TV side, could anyone look more uncomfortable in front of a camera than Neil O'Donnell on channel 5? He's painful to watch.<P ID="signature">______________

How about Eddie George on Channel 2? He is awful! All he does is repeat everything John Dwyer says? And frankly, nothing Dwyer says is all that compelling.

Plus, did you hear Eddie put his foot in his mouth last week when he didn't know he was on air? (Regarding the camera angle of the fan in the tube top.)

I MISS PAT RYAN

Eddie has potential, but he better learn about the rule of NOT saying things when you're any where near a microphone. Eddie needs to speak up, talk louder and be more animated. He does say some good things. Dwyer is over his head with in that job. He is more interested in talking about clubing than he is football.

JDwyer doesn't help because he's in the gutter all the time.

O'Donnel has some potential too, but has to relax. When you look at the three guys teaching him, that's your problem. Are there anymore three uptight broadcasters on one sports staff than Hope, Howard, and Yutzy?

I miss Pat Ryan, I miss Pat Ryan, I miss Pat Ryan, I miss Pat Ryan. I'd take Eddie or Neil over what is on the radio now, but I miss Pat Ryan.

I have always said that the Tennessee Titans have by far the worse pre-season, television crew in the ENTIRE NFL. Imho, John Dwyer has absolutely no business being anywhere near the broadcast booth of a NFL broadcast. Why does Dwyer find it nessacary to pronounce Alabama in the style of Keith Jackson, "AALLLL-AAAA-BAAAAA-MAAAAA", everytime a former Crimson Tide player is shown on the feild? Compared to the other 31 NFL teams, the pre-season coverage of the Titans is a SECOND-RATE PRODUCT and it will remain so as long as JOHN DWYER IS IN THE BROADCAST BOOTH FOR THOSE GAMES!!!!!!

Re: I MISS PAT RYAN

Pat was replaced by Frank Wycheck. Frank is a nice guy, but isn't close to as good at expressing himself and explaning the game for the listeners.

Eddie George is the TV guy for preseason.

No, Pat wasn't any better. At least Frank is an ex-Titan, and can discuss things from the team's point of view. Give me Frank over Pat.

Re: I MISS PAT RYAN

I don't really care about the team's point of view. Pat Ryan told it like it was. If they stunk, he would say they stunk. I will miss him.

A team's own radio network by definition should provide a homercast. That was many people's beef with Ryan, he didn't play the homer. If you want honest opinions on game day, you need to tune in a TV broadcast, and let the Titans Radio Network be what it was created to be.

Re: I MISS PAT RYAN

I don't want to put words in your mouth, but are you saying a color man shouldn't be honest?

I think that part of Eddie George's problem was this gig was heaped upon him kinda at the last second, so to speak. He still wants to play and hasn't taken the needed steps to prepare himself to do a professional color commentary worthy of even a preseason....errrr...exhibition telecast. Far too many "he's my boy" and "Can't say anything bad" for my taste. I mean, he doesn't have to rip and tear, just bring some honest obervation. Thankfully, this exercise will be over soon and maybe Eddie will either get a NFL contract or get some help in being a broadcaster.

Re: I MISS PAT RYAN

This point is exactly why I liked Pat over Frank. Pat wasn't a company man that was afraid to offend his former locker mates and former coaches. Frank doesn't do anything to explain what is going on, on the field. He was a tough guy and not a indepth playbook person.

Give me Pat Back

Re: I MISS PAT RYAN

That's about the dumbest thing I've read on this board. Homer doesn't mean preaching the company line. Honesty in broadcasting should matter. If they are stinking it up I want to know why. I don't want sugar coated crap.

Pat was a homer, yet told you when they were messing up.

Frank doesn't tell you anything about what is working or isnt' working. He just agrees with Mike and Larry.

You are confusing entertainment broadcasting for journalistic broadcasting. Ain't the same thing. But what we're talkin about isn't the difference between honesty and dishonesty, we're talking about the difference between honesty and spin. Or honesty and PR.

You apparently weren't listening to the same game I listened to while driving across the state Friday night. What you describe isn't the way the broadcast went at all.

Re: I MISS PAT RYAN

Spin is lying my friend, if you don't tell the truth you are lying. You must be one of those people that wears a cheerleading uniform to the games or a Wycheck uniform. If you listen to what he says, it is nice, but there isn't anything of substance to his dialog. Mike Keith give more color commentary.
