Who’s paying Emmis right now for this format? Is something like this expensive?
I don't see an application for that callsign, either, or any applications for that facility. It does not look like "WEPN" is trademarked in any way, so even less incentive for Emmis to change the callsign for what is ultimately a placeholder format.If you think Emmis is going to change the call letters on a station they are trying to sell just to match temporary stunt programming, I don't know what to say in response.
Oh, wait ... yes, I do: $190 application fee plus whatever Emmis' attorneys charge them to file it. Not worth the bother, even if the expense comes out of petty cash.

Unless either Emmis, the syndicator, or TJ himself say something, we'll never know. All we have are "maybes".

SBS might want to finish paying for its purchase of KROI first, before buying anything in NYC. The KROI sale was approved almost a year ago and still hasn’t closed.The call letters are going to be WRAZ... when SBS moves them up from South Florida to do Regional Mexican there.
So far we know Emmis partnered with Gemini XIII to put one of their flagship shows on the station, someone who does have experience in the market as a New Jersey native and spending a lot of time on Elvis Duran's show. We know Radio.cloud is providing the automation since they're being promoted in the top of the hour ID. Judy DeAngelis is doing promos because she was TJ Taormina's professor at FDU.All of them are very plausible, and I'm sure Lance is working to get the facts from the source, but can't report anything until after tomorrow's surprise.
The Galaxy people are outside the box thinkers, and have some money in the bank after buying United Stations. If they can make a big splash with this tomorrow, it could have long term benefits for them. As I said in the other thread, the main product for TJ is the podcast. So if they can build audience for that, it's all they need. The radio show just promotes the podcast. That's what Ben Shapiro and others do. My question is will tomorrow's show be completely about/for NYC, or will it just be their standard show. I would think it's the former.

Scotty Meyers, who is Gemini XIII's Vice President of Entertainment and Special Projects handles the syndication sales for the TJ Show, is nicknamed "Pitbull" for his relentlessness. Prior to joining them, he spent 25 years at John Tesh's TeshMedia running their syndication. His fingerprints are all over this.
One major correction, for TJ the syndicated show is the primary product in terms of revenue generation, not the podcast. They're just being smart and proactive realizing they need to think about the future as well.
For a show that launched about 18 months ago to already have 60 clearances is massive these days. With the amount of shows in the marketplace and many companies only using programming from their internal units or ones they have partnerships with like Townsquare and Connoisseur with Compass, it is hard to get on a bunch of stations. As Scotty told me at CRS earlier this year, he goes for quantity first then proves with quality to get bigger fish.Maybe. The radio show isn't in a lot of markets. Thanks brother!Scotty is a good radio friend of mine and was a big help with Tesh when I was at KWCA. Guy knows his stuff and treats his stations very well, even the peons like mine.
I've seen some messages from scotty who gets messages from stations about how ratings are increasing .. and pretty big in some places. That would clearly, eventually translate to revenue.
