TJ 98.7

Almost like it belongs on K-Love -- which may be intentional, considering one of the potential buyers Emmis is courting.

You must have missed the multiple posts in the original thread where it was pointed out that EMF is still absorbing the costs of moving to TN, and that Emmis' asking price is completely out of line with what EMF has paid in the past.

Here:

And this may blow your mind, but radio syndication is usually sold by TELEVISION market. So in theory they could claim WBEA as a New York clearance.

Huh. Explains why one vendor listed my station in Rutland, VT as being in Burlington, even though Rutland County is not in the Burlington/Plattsburgh DMA.

No excuse for our Director of Programming thinking that, though.

I was at a stationi in the hills of NW PA that was considered to be in the Olean, NY radio market... but depending on who was doing what.. we appeared in the Buffalo or State College tv market

I didn't, but my point is that EMF is one of the few groups who could buy 98.7, especially if Emmis caves and lowers their asking price.

Yes, they could (they've done it often enough to make me dislike them intensely), but I think if Emmis was going to lower the asking price, Jeff would have done that as the end of the LMA approached on his calendar. I am in the camp that thinks the shareholders won't let him do so.

And as has been noted, EMF is not in a buying mood after that huge moving expense. Can Emmis wait them out for a year or two?

Financially, of course. But I believe Jeff faces a deadline as to how much he has to pay the remaining shareholders (I'm one of them) under previous agreements filed with the SEC. Jeff might have to sell the station for a more reasonable price and make up the difference from his share/personal wealth. Probably doesn't want to do that. He also could go back to the shareholders with a new offer.

As a shareholder, I think you would be in the best position to investigate that and share anything non-proprietary you learn.

He has two more years, and every year, the amount he has to pay increases. So as he said, it's better to sell sooner than later.
So TJ 98.7 could end up outlasting 105.1 The Buzz, FM 105.1, Big 105, Blink 102.7, New Rock 101.9 and most of the formats that WPIX had from the mid 1970's until the mid 1980's? Wow!

There is a lot of stretching the truth on that affiliate list...like the Dallas affiliate, the affiliates in the Memphis, Jackson MS, Abilene TX are nowhere close to providing a signal into those markets. The Baltimore outlet is some sort of online radio station.
I live in Jackson. WFOI is a low-power station in a small town about 80 miles away. No one here knows anything about that station.

Is it a repeat of the morning show or a fresh show? Or maybe a reassembly of bits in a different configuration?
Really not looking to knock TJ & his crew. But They Each say about 4 words & go straight to a block of music. I guess I’m happy to hear music because what they talk about is boring. This morning one of their subjects was to point out every time you see a deer 🦌. You have to say Deer. Maybe 🤔 amusing for the younger people. I’m not that old but I could skip this show/Podcast & sleep like a baby 😊

Was it a "subject", or was it a cute aside as part of a broader conversation?

I listen to plenty of TJ when I take my morning showers here in Rutland, VT, because the local options are atrocious. My syndie choices are him or Elvis.

Not hearing any of it myself to make a direct comment personally, it certainly seems to me from the early critiques that this isn't going to help TJ and company as much as they had hoped.

When you get a marketing opportunity like this dropped into your lap, you need to make an extra effort to make the product look even better than usual. It doesn't sound like that is what is happening here.

Correct me if I am wrong, since I live about 2500 miles outside of 98.7's signal contour.
