TJ and Songs Per Hour

I'm not sure, but hopefully not many! I've been listening to AMP in the morning because they play music, not for celebrity gossip and fake prank calls.

It would be ironic if bringing in on-air hosts now would be the cause for their ratings to drop. That AMP so slowly and selectively took their time to find and fill all of the time slots (when did the selection process begin?), and meanwhile their listenership grew because there wasn't a lot of chatter and more music played. That’s what set them apart from Kiss.

I have to figure that two stations playing the same format in the same market must really ruin advertising revenue for both, even when one or both are highly rated. I would imagine that any time an ad comes on, a large percentage of listeners switch to the other station. If I were an advertiser, I'd devalue advertising on either of said stations compared to one that has the format to itself.

When AMP was just playing tunes and adverts it was an easy station to listen to.
They moved fast and there was no need to change channels when ads came on.

I am afraid DJs have lessened AMP's appeal.

Ha, yes that did not make any sense. I want them to play more music.

That's what Ipods and Pandora are for .

So wanting a station to play music instead of fake played out radio bits means I should just leave radio all together and listen to Pandora or my Ipod? I like plenty of radio shows that are all talk, so I'm not sure why I should just ditch radio all together?

The parts of the T.J show I heard this morning were pretty bad. I think Opie and Anthony have a new candidate for their annual Jocktober feature. Around 8am I caught "a bit" where T.J said that "the movie voiceover guy" left him a voice message wishing him luck in his new show. He proceeded to play a clip of a voice message that sounded like a movie trailer wishing him luck while his female sidekick laughed like it was the funniest thing she ever heard. I guess the joke was that someone left him a voice message in a dramatic "move trailer" voice. It was obviously not real, but T.J pretended it was, while his sidekick acted so surprised that this unidentified "famous voice over guy" left him a message, and she proclaimed herself a "voice-over nerd," then laughed at her own joke. If you don't follow why this is funny, please join the 100% of the rest of the audience that thought it was terrible also.

Mix already has War of the Roses covered, and with the fake Balt-Busters back on the air, I wonder what fake bit T.J will debut tomorrow? Maybe the AMP bandit will break into the AMP studios and steal $103,300!

Re: War of the Roses: Right?

I love Karson, I've played "Can't Beat Kennedy," I respect his service to our country, he's a nice man, and he actually posts here under his real name. But that feature's not played out after almost 10 years after I first heard it on the radio? Really? I'm sure it's not 100% his decision to run that feature, but it's intellectually vacant. Then again, it seems that most radio listeners these days are.

old man biased at its best right here. Now its only his first week not that I am going to listen but why the hate for the baltbuster when as I remember he started it all around these parts back in the day.

How come there so much music it's a morning show they barely talk.

Because they are probably bringing the show along slowly and as the audience gets to know them, they will talk more. That is a common practice

Ok, if yo uknow what Jocktober is, you CLEARLY are not the target audience for this show or most CHR morning shows. As for my comment about IPOPDS, more music in the morning is a great way to get people to listen initially with no passion for the product. A great morning show wins long term because people become loyal day to day and as music trends change. Nobody goes to work and school and talks about how they heard Kesha 3 times that morning.

You are right. I am not really in the demo since I'm male, but I am 31 so I'm in the demo for age at least. Yes, my preference in the morning if for shows like Stern, O&A, Toucher and Rich etc, but I think Ramiro has a decent show, and I think Baltazaar/Pebbles and Matty are very good at what they do even if they are my not my favorite thing to listen to, so its not like I hate all CHR style shows. The jocks on Kiss like Jackson Blue and Romeo are very good at what they do also.

What I've heard of T.J's show is just plain bad. It sounds fake. Everything sounds like a planned "bit." To be fair, it is his first week, and it probably will get better. It is also hard to be funny when all you can do is PG-13 humor in between Bieber and Keisha records, so its not all his fault.

Reminds me of Lander's crew with the forced laughs and the "oh Lander"s. His show always sounded like it was recorded a day in advance or something, I wondered if he was even there in the Mix studio most of the time.
