Just a little FYI for everyone wonderful TMO fired all staff in the radio division today. I don't have details on what is going on with the stations, all three will probally go fully auto and the offices will probally be moved back toward the Press offices. I feel bad for everyone that has lost their jobs today.

They have been heading in that direction I noticed. I remember hearing alot more DJs live on Party 105.3 years ago, but recently you're lucky to hear a DJ talk more than once an hour.
I guess they figure people don't want to hear DJs. I prefer having DJs though, gives the station personality and lets me know the names of the songs they play.
TMO might as well cut their loses and sell the whole group already.
Their stations don't have much of a signal. Even though I love Party 105.3 they got no signal, they only come in strong over the pine barrens (draw a triangle between Riverhead, Westhampton, and Shirley). Can't even get them in Southampton.

I can usually pick party 105 up where I am in Massapequa, but thats with antenna in a certain position on one stereo & a boomboxpositioned a certain way in a certain part of the house tuned to 105.4 (generally can't pick up the signal, but can with my experimentations). Can't pick them up tonigt though tropo WDAS from Philly is booming in real strong tonight

Before this thread starts to build, what is your source (and I hope you weren't one of the fired, if you were, my regrets). Many will have comments on the the radio division if this is true so I want to be careful before make my own comments.

It's really been a downward spiral since the super talented Vic the Latino left; it was his station really,his image, his sound, his concept that 'sold' it, when he split what was basically a VERY small time operation, the "Party" was ALREADY over, it's been running on fumes ever since.

I'm not revealing yet how I know this, but it is true. I'm not like some people who are on here and constantly blast TMO. I know that many of these people are ex employee's who deserved to get fired and are just sour and untalented. But this is true, if I get more info on where things are going I will let you all know.

Too late...They just (within the past hour or so) removed the message boards for all 3 radio stations.

Maybe the conversation will move to one of their other boards...

No offense meant, just being sensitive to the folks impacted. After all a message board is hardly a source of absolute truth.

The pictures of the jocks are gone, and all three of the radio sub-sites are under construction. There are a few comments on the www.wlir.fm message boards but nothing substantive yet.

As others have said, the signs were all there. Shared jocks between stations doing double duty, websites whittled down to nothing, a horrible stream (PS the temporary website for WLIR talks about improved streaming coming soon, no streaming reference on the other sites). Nothing seemed to be done with the $62 million to enhance the stations, and the WLIR transmitter move never happened. They also never seemed to expand the Long Island Press the way it was rumored they would after the WLIR sale. As I've said before, since before the sale TMO had seemingly become unfocused, without direction, without strategy.

There were some very good, hard working people working behind the mics and behind the scenes at TMO. I hope they resurface soon.

As an aside, does Jarad Broadcasting exist anymore. The branding for the under construction micro sites shows TMO Radio.

Management at the TMO radio cluster is to blame....They, or shall I say "he" is the cheapest sob I've ever had the displeasure to work for. They refuse to pay a decent wage to their employees and then when some people leave, as I did, you do not get paid for the work that you've done. I feel bad for the people that lost their jobs and I hope they end up back on their feet. There are plenty of stations out there that DO pay well and respect their employees. Unfortunately TMO radio is NOT one of them. Hey J.C. Just remember this simple mantra: "What Goes Around Comes Around" I refuse to listen to any of those stations, and hopefully now no one else will.....Advertisers take heed... Put your money into another radio group because TMO is going down!!!!!!!!!!!

One interesting tidbit Party 105 is still promoting their annual MegaJam concert for Spet 24th starring Kim Sozzi, Reina, Lucas Prata & others

Yeah at the new Viper Bar, just another great idea from the heads at TMO, Number one its strictly 18 and over number 2 the place is small. I'm curious who they are going to have do all the work now that all the people that use to bust the butts are out of jobs. Yes, and I believe that "He" also owns a fair percentage of the company.

They should do a reality show about TMO.

Yes, They could call it "How not to run a radio station" or "How to screw your employees in 1 easy step" I know from experience that the man that runs the show is a good for nothing wannabee, who has no friends in this business and will use any underhanded method to bypass rules and regulations. And to think that he is running for public office....yikes...look out Huntington Town.....

For once Jim, I agree with you on something. Because the same thing pretty much happened once Vic left 95.3 Party in Orlando...once he left (to go to Party 105.3) the station went downhill.

Do I sense a pattern? KTU should give this guy a raise if that's the case!

Vic went from side kick at WBLI, to founder of Party 105, jumped to the gig in Florida(after I helped talk him into moving on to bigger things, he would visit me periodically,to pick my brain)came back briefly to BLI And Party ,both at the SAME time, and then heeded Frankie Blue's beckoning to KTU. The kid grew up in my town, in my store, and is the smartest, most magnetic STAR I've ever had the opportunity to watch develop,from his days of broadcasting the home coming parade for Sachem High school; tell him that "Yoda" sez hello!<P ID="edit"><FONT class="small">Edited by lalumia on 09/09/05 01:17 AM.</FONT></P>
