TNT renewing 'Dallas' for another season

Good news! Now all we need are Pam and Donna. ;D

Agree totally on Susan Howard and Victoria Principal!

The only thing the show needs now is some sort of "outsider" constant irritant/threat to the Ewings......a sort of young-generation version of "Cliff Barnes".

I think thats what the writers are working towards with Christopher's brother-in-law, the ranch hand who obviously is seeking revenge of some kind...

Hopefully this brother-in-law, Tommy Sutter, has a lot of hidden money or else he'll be dispatched quickly!

Victoria Principal left the original series back around season 9 (I believe the season after Bobby Ewing came back from the dead). I posted a link in another Dallas thread that said she isn't interested in returning. The final appearance of the Pam Ewing character was played by a different actress. You'll never see Victoria Principal.

On the other hand, we've seen Lucy and Ray twice for about 15 seconds each so, sure, Donna could show up for no reason too. Donna was/is a politician so I suppose she could find a reason to drop by Southfork.

Now, in last night's episode, when Christopher and Bobby were showing the mineral deed to John Ross, Christopher referenced "Uncle Gary". That would be Gary Ewing who lives in California in Knot's Landing. So maybe actor Ted Shackelford will make an appearance. Then again, while Knot's Landing recognized Bobby Ewing's death, they did not go along with Dallas' Bobby-comes-back-to-life-and-everything-in-the-previous-season-never existed storyline and never had anything to do with Dallas again, so who knows.

Ted Shackelford has been approached to appear in this season of Dallas, but he didn't like the terms (storyline, amount of script, something), while Joan Van Ark hasn't yet, but sounded intrigued (if she were to be asked; even though she's not sure what angle they could use for her at this point) according to a recent interview.

This begs the question that given the relative success of "Dallas" on TNT, is there a possibility of a reboot of "Knots Landing" in the works? It never had the pop culture relevancy of "Dallas" but it was a top 10 show for many seasons and last 14 years, so it had staying power.

If Knots Landing comes back for a revival, then you know Donna Mills will definitely sign on (she recently guest starred on an episode of GCB). I mean she's 71 now -- yes, 71!!! -- and hardly ever ages!

All the Knot's Landing cast members ever did was sleep with each other. There was never a storyline. What are they gonna do, cross over to Dallas and sleep with John Ross, Christopher and the rest of the kids? It'll be "Cougartown" all over again and that show didn't last. ;D

Ted Shackleford has found himself a home in Genoa City, Wisconsin...as a character on CBS' "The Young and The Restless".

It ain't Dallas, but it's steady work.

BTW, up until last year, Patrick Duffy worked part time as a character on their sister-soap "The Bold and The Beautiful".

And Southfork Ranch is once again a tourist attraction, as I
saw in this morning's Greensboro News & Record. The ranch,
for those who don't know, is located in Parker, TX, Collin County,
about 25 miles northeast of Dallas. Personal note: I was living in
Collin County (Plano) when the original show started in 1978 but
was in South Carolina by the time "Dallas" hit the top three
in primetime and the ranch became a tourist attraction. But if
you're a "Dallas" fan and you're out that way, check out the ranch
anyway.

Actors going back and forth from daytime to prime time seems to be fairly common. Lots of stars of prime time TV have gotten their start in the soaps.

Another example which relates to "Dallas".....Ken Kercheval ("Cliff Barnes") spent part of his early career as a cast member of the long gone CBS soap "The Secret Storm".
