TNT's Coverage of the Coke Zero 400

What the hell is the deal with the commercials being shown in another window while the race is running? Am I the only one who thinks this is total B.S.? In my opinion, commercials shouldn't be running during the program.

Indy Car started this several years ago calling it "split screen". NASCAR usually (but don't bet on it) shows their commercials during yellow's and other slow times. I think the NASCAR view is a bit less intrusive than IRL.

Actually it's better than running the commercials in full screen, this way you don't miss any of the action, What I mean is their going to run the commercials anyway so why not this way.

Exactly, they only broke four times all night, all during cautions, for the local spots. All of the national ads took place in split screen, pretty great way to do things so fewer laps are missed.

On ESPN's nationwide race the night before, they took a break during green. Came back from break under caution. Couldn't help it.

Then, I guess you don't want to see the race on TV then, if it wasn't for those pesky little commercials, there would be no TV at all (or you could pay for it like the Brits do...your choice)

Programming is just the filler between commercials.

I may have been imagining, but while channel surfing, I tuned in to the race at about lap 105 (during a caution period) and they ran a couple of commercials split screen, then returned for about 10-15 secs. of pbp, then went to a full screen commercial. I turned it off then. I guess TNT must have gone from advertiser to advertiser seeing which would agree to split screen ads.
