You know it's really hard fo rme to sit here and witness this life changing event and not be able to do anything about stopping it. Having spent most of my childhood in that beautiful city, as well as most of my family being from there, plus having been on the air there at Kiss, I feel like I need to speak from the heart.

For those of you who have spent any amount of time in the Crescent City, you should know how truly catostropic this event is. If you have memories of anything in that town, on video, photo, or just in your mind, cherish it, for the city I know as my second home will never be the same again. Many of the French Quarter buildings will be gone. Creole shotgun homes gone. Floating cemeteries gone. There will be things left, but not in the shape we left them.

For those still in harms way, stay strong, keep the faith, and continue to pray. I admire your courage to face this natural evil head-on, but continue to hope for your safety.

I'm not overly religious, but a relative of mine taught me this once a long time ago, and I think it fits this particular situation, even though it was written for sailors, feel free to pray out loud as you read it:

Lord, as I stand on the rolling deck
To view the restless sea
With its wide expanse of darkened sky,
You seem so far from me.

Intrepid youth should feel no fear,
But I have a load of care
For the safety of our ship and men.
Lord, hear my earnest prayer:

That I be true to every task;
May no fault lie with me.
Whatever danger may arise,
As we sail the raging sea.

May I be calm and know that You
Can still the wind and wave,
And be assured in perfect trust
That You have the power to save.

When the moon sheds beams from a starlit sky,
I feel near to You again,
For the same moon shines on my loved ones, too,
And I thank You, Lord......Amen.

For fear of being off-topic, I can in a way envy you for being able to experience this beautiful city firsthand. I was supposed to be in Lafayette at this time last year and things fell through at the last minute. It's unfortunate that none of us will ever be able to experience the history and charm of the Big Easy as it was.

God bless.
