Ok Look guys. The Reason Clear Channel has fliped KEGL from Active Rock to Soft Ac is, because KEGL AND KDGE shared number when you can morph the rock from KEGL to KDGE you have "A New Rock Alternative" and it puts The Edge back in The EDGE. Now Sunny comes into play, Sunny could have killed KVIL if it was programed right that does not mean start christmas music in october, but it had a chance, But I do not agree about fliping it to spanish when you have 99.1 101.7 104.9 107.9 106.7 94.1 I am not even counting the AM dial, But its all about sales and if it can sell it stays if it can't then it goes so there are your reason. MONEY MAKES RADIO STATIONS WORK!!!!!!!

Any Questions I will love to answer them

You are not studying the other markets La Preciosa already exists in. It doesn't matter how many Spanish language stations there are in Dallas, this is not "just another Spanish station", it's a Mexican oldies station (late 60s-early 00s) it plays music that is not being heard on the others, music that generates memories, passion, and emotion for many listeners. There are some exceptions such as Fresno, but in most markets it's in, Preciosa soon becomes the highest rated Spanish language station.

I also agree/disagree with your "it's all about sales" comment. Yes, of course it's all about sales. But you seem to think it won't get ratings because Spanish is too fragmented, yet the sales will be great anyway. This is wrong. In reality sales will increase because of the ratings not in spite of them.

I don't even care any more because I have my XM. FM radio is becoming a distant memory. Moves like getting rid of the Eagle just caused me to make the change faster.

Idiotic managment decisions such as the Eagle/Sunny Debacule are driving alot of people to XM and Sirius. I, for one, havent listened to terrestrial (free) radio since December of last year and have a heck of alot more programming choices than I did before.

"Forget the hype over podcasting, MP3 players, Internet radio and satellite radio. Free, local radio still rules America's listening habits, according to a spate of recent studies."

<a target="_blank" href=http://www.nab.org/xert/corpcomm/newsletters/RadioRave/RadioRave8-22-05.asp>http://www.nab.org/xert/corpcomm/newsletters/RadioRave/RadioRave8-22-05.asp</a>

Scrolling down the same site, you'll also find:

"Financial losses at Sirius Satellite Radio hit $177.5 million for the second quarter, up from $136.8 million from second quarter 2004. UBS Analyst Lucas Binder recently cut his rating on the company to neutral from buy."

Such is the case with still young media. FM was the same before the 70's and UHF as well. Business Week shows advertising down for most large radio conglomerates currently. You can spin the numbers to justify, but when the spinning stops listeners are still leaving radio.

Ed, we pretty much agree on this one. Maybe nationwide the listeners aren't leaving in droves, but a lot more will be switching in the coming years as satellite continues to finetune and offer more of what radio isn't doing, including local content. One must consider the source of this "state of Sirius" report. It's more paint by numbers blather from the NAB.

I agree as well JL. The NAB will try to spin faster, but as I said the spinning will slow down then stop.

Heh.... We all KNOW the NAB NEVER lies about anything. They never spin or distort the truth to their likeing. For example, one can take the current issue of IBOC for AM. It would never cause enough interference that the FCC should refrain from implementing it day and night. But we do know from Mr. Fritts that 10 and 100 watt radio stations in your area may cause harmful interference to your friends at the local 100freakingTHOUSAND watt radio station transmitting from over 1000 ft on a tower in town. We also know that having these 10 and 100 watt radio stations at 100 feet or less on 2nd adjacents will render the entire band useless because we all are useing 1960s tube-type radios with AFCs that will grab that LPFM and keep us from enjoying that wonderful programming from our friends at the mega-giant broadcast company. God knows we wouldn't be able to live if that happened. Wow! I should call and tell them I support big corporate radio 100 percent! That's funny.. no one is answering the phone there... hmm.. We all should be especially concerned for our well-being according to our freinds that never lie or distort the truth at the NAB that any form of XM or Sirrius radio might add any local content to their programming to do things like protect the public with emergency services, weather, or local events, like, for example, what terrestrial radio was chartered to do back when the frequencies were GIVEN to the local broadcasters in the 30s. We wouldn't want XM and Sirrius to serve the public now would we? Nahh.. That would be unfair competition because, according to the many ads that the NAB and local state broadast associations, terrestial radio is so great a resource for serveing the public! I need to start staying up real late now so I can hear what's happening via the PSAs and public affairs shows that run at 2a.m. The public.. Yup! That's what big corporate and the NAB are all about!

Spin and lie about stuff? The NAB? You jest!

DUDE. Texas workforce is still sending you checks. Isn't that illegal if you are working? Of course it is,that's why you are not. However keep telling yourself that, and maybe one day you will have work and find a cure for your phobia. Ed, send you a demo? One thing is for sure, you still have a slight sense of humor, however misplaced. Smokey's laughing, but at you.
