To Everyone Reading

Thanks for all the help, advice, warnings and responses to my various postings.  I'll make every attempt to stay away from certain subject matters in the future.  Miss working in radio and wanted to make my own return to it.  Not trying to cause trouble.  Just want to learn the ins and outs.  To WDJC Birmingham, Moody Radio South, WLBF Montgomery, Bluewater in Montgomery, Redeemer Olivebridge New York and Alexander here in Selma, I want to thank you for your continued influence over me.  Your presentations inspire and excite me every time I check them out. To the moderators, thanks for allowing this 42 year old something to come on here and learn about this business.  I still enjoy reading and posting my thoughts on here.  From this moment on, I'm going to avoid talking about some of the things, I recently brought up.  I'll be the first to admit, I screw up.  Not trying to drag myself down but I have made many mistakes in the past.  Not proud of them at all.  Want to learn from this and move on.  Time for me get to excited about my future plans and leave those other issues behind. Thanks to everyone who came on here and put me in my place.  Your stern words did just that.  I've learned from the past mistakes and will make every attempt not to repeat them again.

P.S. Much love to Mr. Zach, Paul, Gower and Poledo too.  Hope all is well with you Mr. Rew and WLGD in Maplesville is on and broadcasting.  Will check out that radio station, next time I travel through that area.  Look forward to listening.

B.T.W. As I post this, tears are coming to my own eyes.  Not proud of some of the things I've done.  Want to move on and continue to learn about this business.  I apologize to anyone that feels my posts were not in good tastes.  Please accept my most humbled apology.  Didn't mean any harm or trouble at all.  Not trying to be a smarty paints person on purpose.  Want to be a civil person, that keeps his head on straight.

Personal Note: If anyone reading wants to become a great writer and/or lawn care person, let me know and I'll teach you how to accomplish it.  I have many years of experience in those fields.

Based on that post your taking my comments too hard, but I got your attention which was my goal.
Your in a rather unique position, RDP, because you aspire to get your hands on one of the LPFM licenses and do it in a small town where everyone knows everyone. I can see how it could be confusing with the majority of the posters here slamming Clear Channel, Cumulus, and other large radio groups. We also post nasty comments about smaller groups and single owner stations, but those comments are usually based on publicly available information, like stories published in trade magazines or the police blotter.
If more of your statements were toned down and posted in the form of a question you wouldn't be attracting the unwanted attention that lead to my harsh comment.

I had no intention of upsetting you. I did feel I needed to get your attention. As my posts have evolved over the years as I've stated that I'm becoming less interested in the radio industry, giving me more and more freedom to shoot myself in the foot. Your going the other direction. At this point you should be developing coidial relationships with the ownership at WALX, WHBB, Fusion, etc... The way I see your situation, that's the only way you can possibly succeed with a LPFM in a small town.

I really wish some of the other posters on the inside of the industry would correct or clarify my comments, but I don't expect much since they may not want to get involved.

Get that chin up brother.

In reading the posts involving RDP, and then the one that leads off this thread, I assume that in addition to what we can all see, there must have been some "private conversation"... some Personal Messages as we have them available through this forum software.

Poledo: Good job with what you just posted. RDP: A number us are willing to give you some assistance and some encouragement. There is something about living in a small town, a rural community, particularly in the South maybe, that results in people sometimes communicating with a type of "openess" that can create problems. (I've lived in the North, I've lived in the south. I've lived in towns of less than 4,000 population, I've lived in Metro areas.)

There is a bit of "small town humor" that I have heard a number of times: "We don't read the local weekly newspaper to find out what is going on... we read to see who got caught."

I live somewhere within 20 miles of the edge of Atlanta. (Some people put "the edge" way down there toward the city. Other people say the edge is way on past me in the country.) I can sit here and foam-at-the-mouth about people, politicans and institutions and virtually nobody knows, nobody cares. But in small town America, word travels quickly, and it seems that EVERYBODY cares what you say. So, RDP, just keep in mind, what you say can make other people feel like "They just got CAUGHT" to use the language of the joke.

In rural, small town America, particularly in the South, you don't get exposed to the full width and depth of The Church and "Religious Thinking". Your posts here indicate you have a rather firm, well defined concept of what is right and what is wrong when it comes to The Christian Faith. Been there. Done that. Got the T-shirt to prove it. You are free in this country to express your values as you see fit. The people of your community are free to reject your values and have their own as they see fit. I've never been to your town. You may find that a lot of your neighbors like your thoughts and will jump in and support your LPFM plan. You may find that a lot of your neighbors are offended by your thoughts and will offer you NO support for your LPFM plan. Think long and hard about those kinds of relationships.

RDP, if your not familiar with the Goat and his posts, he is certainly one of the Greatest Of All Time. Anything he types is important for you to understand. Don't be shy if you have a question for him.

I've been reading from his posts and love them.

He's been a great help to me too.

Been paying attention to the one he's involved with, over on the Georgia board.

Very wise comments he's making there.
