TO Flooding

Kudos to 680 News and CFRB for outstanding coverage of Tuesday night's floods. Ditto for City-TV. Epic failure award goes to Global. "The Morning Show" is doing its steady diet of talking head trite content (e.g. Mexico is the fattest nation, texting while driving, etc.) with zero info on the commute, flooding, people stranded etc. City-TV is owning the story as usual.
 
Don't forget CP 24's excellent coverage as well, including the broadcast of the very last person to be rescued from the GO train. They were live all the way through the night. CFRB was outstanding, going live and in depth until at least midnight. By then, most of the situation was under control and they went to their usual overnight programming. 680 NEWS was doing what it should be doing and doing it fantastically. By the time AM 640 faded in at night they were completely syndicated. I don't know if they did any thing related to the flo0d in the early evening (I was at work and out of listening range, at least on the G8). I heard no coverage at all. And nothing on AM 740.

2 AM stations doing what they needed to do. And doing it well.

If I lived in Toronto, AM 640 would've been the last station I would've turned to, after what sister CHQR pulled in Calgary a couple weeks ago.

They must have read the Corus Radio Handbook on how to cover major flooding events.
 
Did anyone notice that CityNews channel (HD) is still there?
It's "overnight format" 24/7, with the same cameras in place and audio from 680 news?
The cameras were just sort of there giving random views of the city.
Didn't Rogers say this channel was going to vanish July first?
I wonder what changed their mind?
If it's staying on the air with this current layout, an encore presentation @ 7 of CityNews @6 would be nice!!!
(How much does that cost to run? lol)

Average Joe listener might not be alert to who owns what station, but yes that is an excellent point, and I am with you on that one.
 
I never said I expected any thing from AM 640, but what I'm wondering was if they had ANY coverage whatsoever? That night the only stations I really paid any attention to were CFRB and CFTR.

From what I understand, no.
Ever since 640 lost their hockey rights, does anyone still have that station programmed into their presets?  :D
