Should be required listening for all young, hotshot announcers to see how it was done, the right way. Radio in Jackson in the 70's was very good. (When I listened to the JDX aircheck,I remembered it was Christopher Stone that I ripped off on his "Grazing in the Grass" intro. Thanks Chris, wherever you are!)

I really enjoyed that. As one of the young, hotshot announcers (I'm 31, so I guess I count), I listen to that (twice already) and realize that I was simply born to late to enjoy the good ol' days. My grandfather was a radio personality in the 40's, 50's, 60's and part of the 70's, and the stories he tells me make me jealous.

That aircheck reminded me of my biggest influence in this business, the great Gary McKee of the former WQXI (now WSTR, Star 94) in Atlanta. Growing up, he's the guy I listened to every morning, and while he had a supporting cast, he was one of the best one man morning shows I've ever heard.

Thanks for that link.
