You've probably seen the recent press releases about broadcasting companies refusing to talk with records companies for fear of the appearance of ipropriety.
What do YOU think about this?
As a Christian broadcaster, do you think stations should turn the phones off, not take tracking calls, and just program their stations?
Or do you think there is some benefit to "Label-X" calling "Staion Z" and asking for 'increased spins' this week on "so and so" because we're only 70 spins away from #1."???
I mean, there ARE some perks to stations playing nice with the labels; more 'in-person' artist visits, giveaway product, and a ready relationship for a number of purposes.
Do you think these tracking calls are a benefit to stations? Or do you think in the long run that they're a distraction and a conflict of interest by potentially influencing the decisions of programmers to 'tweak their lists' in a way that they might not otherwise?
Odd bedfellows or beneficial bedfellows?
