Morning Mess,
First off, let me say I haven’t listened nor will I ever. I yanked my car antennae out sometime ago to get better reception for my XM radio.
No matter who you were, you would have been vilified when coming to this market. Jesus Chris could have come to Star 94 and people would have said “Hell that long hair, so seventies; sandals, so nineties. Pah!” (given that he got out of his 90-day noncompete with the Fish).
Back in the day (insert gesture to “aching back” here), we had Don Anthony’s wonderful yearly excursion to Las Vegas to assuage the heartache stemming from this job. Now, you're own your own. You won't get support here or within your own building-- at least nothing sincere.
So, briefly because I abhor long posts on this site:
Getting on the “news” doesn’t matter like before. Spend your time being relevant instead.
Be truthful because I think if you’re lying for the bit, nowadays, they’re gone.
Aircheck every day but don’t forget to point out the things you did right. Build on those, ditch the rest.
Did I mention be relevant to your listener?
Just keep plugging away.
All us old (and new) radio folks want you to fail. Nothing personal. We think we can do better. Cindy and Ray WANT you to fail. Nothing personal—it just ups their stock. If that bothers you, go work at The Gap.
Miss Anthrope (who’s lost a password)
Ps. Ditch the damn phone pranks (so eighties)
