To TXENGINEER: Cox Cable Technical Problem

There's something funky with A&E on COX Cable of Meriden. The pic will be on for a few seconds and then the screen will go blank. And on screen in small letters it says Channel 3 Not Available. Then that disappears and in small letters it says A&E East is Unauthorized. Then the A&E Picture will come back. And the cycle will start over again. The thing about Channel 3 really puzzles me. A&E is channel 42, not 3. 3 is COX Sports Television.

This is probably just some technical difficulty at the headend. These types of things are not uncommon.

My father called me up to complain about this too...and we are Comcast...

A&E...DOA. lol

We had that up in Maine this morning. I'm on a suscom cable.

Guessing it was a distribution issue, coming into the MTC.

I have Direct TV and haven't seen this ever, but it sounds like some type of security/authentication issue. Some data wasn't being sent properly thus confusing the headend receivers. Just a barely educated guess. Does Direct TV/Dish get seperate feeds from the nets?
