Today: First Vieira, now Lauer?

Could Katie & Matt be the next Regis & Kelly? I always liked the two as a pair...and as much as I like Meredith Viera on "Millionaire" and previously on "The View", I just don't care for her work on "Today". I haven't watched it since Katie left.

But, I also like Katie on the evening news, so what do I know?

The "Today" show is long overdue for a refresh. The first two hours (the real Today show if you ask me) are essentially the same show from when Bryant Gumbel and Jane Pauley were doing it ages ago with just a redressed set.

Two new hosts would be a good opportunity for new graphics, redesigned set, and finally some different theme music. Heck, go back to "This Is Today" if you don't want to commission something new but get rid of that 1986 theme they've been using.

Now NBC has issued a statement that the story about Lauer and Viera leaving the Today Show is not true.

I don't want to be a 'doubting thomas' but when it comes to trusting the PR people at any network, I tend to believe the blogs more.

I seem to recall a Lauer interview where he said he was going to be leaving in a few years. He implied that he had everything structured where he could retire and just play golf.

How about Howie Mandel and Rosie O'donnell to replace Vierra and Lauer, but I heard Ryan Seacrest's name mentioned on one of the entertainment shows.

Rosie would be good, I don't watch tv at that time of the day.... that means I would less likely be subjected to her during the times I do watch.

If you could keep Rosie's mouth shut she'd be good. She actually is funny. And if you could keep her doing light segments, and talking about celebrity gossip and away from anything political or something complicated, and just have her focus on comedy, celebrity and light topics she'd shine once again.

It's her mouth that gets her into trouble.

I would agree, but there was a court case and the ruling was that Ray Ellis copied "Day by Day".

I added that to Wikipedia, but someone else took it out. It's back now.
