On this day in history:
1. My grandfather was born (1901). He had a great big radio with lots of tubes and a huge internal speaker in the ceiling of his barn. I think that had a lot to do with my early interest in AM radio.
2. Finnochio's Club in San Francisco closed (1999). I later found out that my uncle's sister was a musician in their house band.
3. More importantly to this forum...Rijn Muntjewerff, world-famous TV DX'er, passed away (2014). I would have loved to have visited his house in the Netherlands, and watched the analog signals roll in from all over the world.
He also was famous for creating new species of Dahlia in his garden. That, of course, was alongside his "antenna farm".
Search him on "Google" and "You Tube" this weekend, if you have some free time.
