TODAY SHOW EXPANDS

NBC is embarking on an expansion of its morning show. Starting in September, the show will expand to four hours, stretching the top-rated and highly profitable show into the late morning. Either the 10! show moves to 11AM or it gets cancelled. There is no room at the inn. They are commited to Martha Stewart, iVillage, and Ellen plus the two hours of soaps. 4PM might be a possibility.

I thought part of the Today show expansion also included the cancellation of the soap Passions, to give that hour back to affiliates.
So another alternative would be to move Martha to the afternoon and put 10! at 11 am.
If 10! lands at 11 am either way, it will face tougher competition up against The Price is Right and The View, not to mention the new 11 am newscast of Fox29.
However, Price will have a new host (Bob Barker is retiring in June) and the predictions that the View will implode haven't quited down.

Passions is done with, but they are supposedly going to try to do something with it (i heard MyTV, SoapNET).

I imagine that Price might suffer once Bob leaves. EVERYONE loves him, from old people to the college students.

They still have the option of splitting the last hour:

7-10 Today
10am 10!
11am Today [last hour, tape delayed]
12noon iVillage
1pm Days...
2pm Martha
3pm Ellen

Several NBC affiliates air 'Live with Regis & Kelly' at 9am, and delay the 3rd hour of Today.

Lastly, I doubt they would move the 10! show to 11am. Just makes no sense there with its name - '10!' is 10AM, on Channel10. Also, 11am is a more competitive time slot, up against Price is Right, The View and a local newscast from Ch.29. Either it stays at 10am or it is cancelled. NBC10 could run Access Hollywood at 11am, and local news at 11:30am (or find another syndicated program for 11), with Martha replacing Passions at 2pm, OR they keep 10!, delay the 4th hour of Today to 11am, with Martha replacing Passions at 2pm.

As an O&O network affiliate I seriosly doublt the new fourth hour of the Today Show will be delayed to 11AM on NBC10. Corporate direction usually rules.
