Today's announcements

Remember this date. There may never again be another day like it.

1. All K-Love affiliates are switching to BBN Radio, which is music 24/7 but uses the BBN music collection that is used at the times when BBN plays music.

2. iHeartRadio's The Standard is no longer just for HD-2 channels. iHeart is putting it on full-power stations in all of its markets (except where adult standards is already available on an AM or FM station). To make room for commercials, most of the recordings of Frank Sinatra are being dropped, but he will still be the most-played artist. He just won't be heard every ten minutes.

3. WBRF Galax VA, though not owned by Cumulus, will become the flagship station for "The Legend" on all formerly Nash-branded stations (except where a market has more than one of the Nash formats, in which case the more traditional station will use the format), and on iHeart stations in select markets. WBRF's co-owned AM, which will become WBRF (AM), will air the format that goes out to all the affiliates, while WBRF-FM will simulcast most of the time. WBRF-FM DJs (who will no longer identify their station) will be heard on all the stations along with the station's record collection. The FM will have its own programming much of the time, including Outlaw Drive at Five (an option for station's that want it), bluegrass in the evening, NASCAR, Wake Forest sports and religious programming on Sundays. During the times the FM has separate programming, its record collection will still be used on the AM and on affiliates but there will be no DJs.

Probably wishful thinking on your part, but if that happens then it's probably just as likely that Jimmy Swaggart will go heavy metal.

Happy April 1th :D
