Today's KTU Flashback: 1982

By using Yes.com's playlists, I was able to determine that today's (January 19th) WKTU feature was 1982, and they played Tommy Tutone's "867-5309/Jenny" at 3:06 P.M. Eastern time, a song usually not associated with their format, but which was a hit that year. Also a hit in 1982 (and more appropriate to KTU's format) was "Gloria" by the late Laura Branigan (played at 3:02).

So there.

Don't get upset. If you don't like this feature, the KTU you know and love will be back at about 4 P.M.

The KTU I knew I loved left the airwaves in about 2002.

So much for open minds in this creative business.

I actually applaud KTU for TRYING to do something interesting in a business that is so often associated with focus-groups, endless auditorium testing and over-consulting!

Look at MIX, they are nothing more than a cheap (and I do mean CHEAP) copy of the upper demos of 103.5. how much creativity does THAT require?

The current KTU gives me LOADS of classics and freestyle and 90s dance, and if you've been paying attention, even some new tracks like Cascada started on KTU.

If they change the 3pm thing, at least they attempted to make a change.

Actually, it is an oasis on a dreary radio dial.

The KTU I knew and loved left the airwaves sometime in 1985...92KTU, that is...

You want to get creative...

If you want to get creative, play a new song. Interview the artist... Let's see if they'll play Donna Summer on Q104.3. Of course not.

Re: You want to get creative...

I remember Cascada's Everytime We Touch was played last June on Party 105.3 in Long Island, and it's only become a hit now.<P ID="signature">______________
