Todd Feinburg's traffic radio (app)

It's an app "radio station" but maybe we can call this "where are they now". Feinburg filled in for Howie Carr quite a bit during the contract controversy plus did a lot more talk on 'RKO, also has been on WBZ. He even was syndie for awhile
(was hearing him on a station in Vermont one weekend)

Todd Feinburg:
"Radio talk host Todd Feinburg, of WRKO and WBZ fame, has launched a new radio station for commuters called j4traffic. The format is All Traffic Radio, and it plays through a mobile app the same way Pandora does, and they get their traffic information from listeners calling in - just like talk radio. Right now they’re broadcasting from 6 to 9am while they build it up, but eventually it will go all day. Please download the app, listen in and report what you see on the roads - and spread the word!

OK lets look at the competition

Sirius/XM traffic channel for Boston

Mass Highway 511

WBZ Traffic on the 3's, and they put the info on Pronto

Total Traffic, the former Metro Traffic Control, they supply WBZ and to every other station within 100 miles

my GPS has traffic alerts

My map application on my Android phone does traffic

Heck when ActionPage posts on FB that there is an accident on 93, I call the wife and she gets the report from me!

Talk about a non-starter, I give it a month

I think what Feinbergs app is supposed to capture is the "communal experience" of Boston traffic....that none of the other "competitors" offer.

First hand reports.....discussion of why traffic is bad, how to navigate better, incompetent DOT and highway departments, etc.

I think there was an all traffic station nr Middletown CT on 1150 for a time, and the 730 up in Montreal was and maybe still is all traffic "Radio Circulation".

The XM/Sir traffic channel for Boston has traffic and weather for Philly and Pittsburgh as well, so you may have to wait a few minutes. (From Xm site: "Traffic & Weather updates every 10 minutes. Boston on the 1's, Philadelphia on the 5's, and Pittsburgh on the 8's.")
