TOH Network Newscast airchecks request

(note to the mods: I'm not sure if this is the correct forum to request this, so feel free to move it if necesary.)

The ABC vs CBS thread below has piqued my curiosity big time.

I was born and raised in Puerto Rico, so I grew up listening to news in Spanish (WPAB, Noti-Uno, etc.). I didn't get to hear a CBS TOH newscast until I started college in San Juan, which allowed me to listen to WOSO. I also listened a lot to Larry King's talk show on Mutual (on the same station). After moving to Houston in '95 I got to listen to ABC's newscasts as well, but, alas, by then NBC Radio was gone.

So my request is:

Anyone of my fellow radio geeks has *old* OTA recordings of top-of-the-hour network newscasts? (ABC, CBS, Mutual, NBC). By old I mean from 1969 (year I was born) up to the time NBC and Mutual were absorbed by Westwood One. Including sounders, station ID, etc. It need not be big national or international news, just a regular "any day" newscast.

Thank you in advance.<P ID="signature">______________

An addition to HRG's request:

A while back I came across a page with links to audio links of "old" network newscasts, breaking news coverage, and sounders. Now I can't find it anymore. I believe it was linked at the time to Jeff Miller's History of American Broadcasting page, but the link to the audio page appears gone. Does anybody know if this page is still around (and do you have a URL).

HRG: You might want to add to your collection with some pre-68 ABC Radio newscasts ("live at :55") before ABC split into four distinct news feeds.

Unfortunately, the page is no more. From Jeff Miller's guestbook:

[I had to discontinue the sound files section because it was costing me more than I expected for the web hosting, because of the huge volume of downloads. Glad you like the site. --Jeff Miller]

A bummer. He had some nifty files on there. My favorite was the premature ABC News special report on Bob Hope's passing, only to be retracted when they called his house. Recorded off of WINS/1010.

I was able to get some network sounders saved onto my hard drive.

Another Jeff, Jeff Roteman, has this tribute site to ABC Radio:

Featured are pages devoted to the 1968 split (The Split!), plus some sounders from the different networks. Don't know if they are downloadable, though...
