Longtime Valley sportscaster Tom Dillon died Tuesday morning (12/2/08). Best known for 20 years of ASU football play by play, he was also the voice of the Cardinals on KT'R for 12 years. Dillon was voted AZ Sportscaster of the Year multiple times. He brought a lot of excitement and energy to the games he called and will be remembered as one of the Valley's best!

Damn, he was a pro.
Tom was absolutely one of the finest professionals I've ever worked with. He will be missed. God bless him.

I had the pleasure of working with Tom Dillon when he called the PBP for the UTEP Miners in El Paso radio back about 1977....before moving to the valley. He was a great talent, most recently I believe he was selling real estate and doing some voice-over work locally. He will be missed.
I had the pleasure of knowing Tom as a listener, a fan, a colleague and a friend. And to tell you the truth, I'm not sure which of those was my favorite role. He was a guy with a heart, and he brought that heart to his profession. You could hear it in his calls of the games, especially when the game was on the line. Great broadcaster.........but an even greater guy.
I'm guessing that any of us who even knew Tom, let alone worked with him, feel this loss deeply and profoundly.

Really sad news. Condolences to Bonnie and family.
I worked with Tom early in my career, and I felt an instant respect for him. To me, he had the old school cred that only comes from decades in the business; I could tell that there wasn't much this guy hasn't seen or been through. He said "Mahzurrah". Bless you, Tom. Prayers for Bonnie and the kids.

I had a chance to work with Tom a couple of different times. Very pleasant guy and a VERY good broadcaster. The Cards were terrible for most of his run with them, but he, in no small part, made the games great to listen to.

Worked with Tom in the early 80's at KARZ....again at KTAR....then again at KFYI. Knew Tom for 25 years....and there was no one more professional. JG
A beautiful service for Tom today followed by a reception with a few tears and LOTS of laughs. It was good to see so many people who mean so much to broadcasting in the Valley, took the time for Tom and his family today. It speaks volumes about what a great guy he was professionally and personally.
