Tom Donahue back from Texas, Back at WECK

Tom must really enjoy the gig if he's willing to come back and put up with the mercurial owner. The constant shuffling of personnel is amateurish. Not sure how a revolving door approach builds a loyal audience connection. Budget cuts due to COVID 19 are understandable, but many of the past changes at this station seem capricious...

Hey genius. WECK has one of the highest TSL in market. Pretty loyal. Stop living programming in the 80s. You know nothing about radio or marketing. Go buy a station, then come talk to me.

Buddy, Buddy!! What's the story? Is the TSL up or down? Recently you told me in a post, "Dude, I am a programming guy too. I understand why share is down. Because TSL is down, along with other factors beyond our control".

Or are you saying in spite of TSL being down, you still have TSL's in the market. If so, what's the beef?

Buddy's station still has among the highest Time Spent Listening numbers in the market.

Remember that TSL is an average. If you have a smaller cume but the listeners are very loyal, you'll get a high TSL. On the other hand, a station that might be in the top couple of stations in share and cume, but with listeners that also go to a number of other stations, you could have low, low TSL and still be a leading station.

Thank you for some common sense David. I had said TSL was down from last book, and that affected share, but I did NOT say TSL was not still VERY STRONG. Guys, get off your high horse. The station is doing well. Just face it.

Be listening Wednesday......you'll notice 100.1 is empty now

While "more music" might work well in mid-days and afternoons, it doesn't generally work well in mornings when the audience has expectations of a traditional presentation with more information - weather, news, traffic, timechecks, etc.

Often, stations resort to a "More Music Morning Show" when the station's morning show host doesn't have the horsepower to pull off the more traditional morning show presentation.

That's just not the case with Tom Donahue. He had been in mornings on that frequency for a good many years and has the ability to do more that segue hits and talk only a handful of times an hour.

The fact that the ratings were better when Tom was paired with Gail proves my point. It was not then a "More Music" morning show.

IMO, that's backwards. If a station wants a more music morning show, they hire an appropriate talent. You almost never see someone transition from hosting a morning zoo to playing second fiddle to The Bee Gees -- at least not without a period of unemployment between.
