Tom Hughes + AN1067 (<--proposed acronym) = ???

Would Tom Hughes and an AM Atlanta-style morning (or afternoon drive) show help? Or is that not the style they need? Could they afford him? Does anyone know him to know if he would do it if asked?

I couldn't see Tom "THE KING" Hughes during drivetime with what they are trying to do. I could, though, see Tom Hughes doing a long-form news (not opinion) show in the early afternoon (1-3) if they need a boost in that timeslot against Rush.

Against Rush?!? Really. On Atlanta's talk station with no signal and no ratings.

It would screw up the whole point of the station. "The Newswatch NEVER Stops. Tom would stop the NEWSWATCH. No one wants that.

Looking at the schedules of some of the other All News stations in the USA, all seem to follow the 2 anchor format in the mornings. All News 106.7 follows the same format of the anchors alternating between reports. Where WYAY is different, is the use of 1 anchor for mid-days. How John Lisk can do the news solo for 5 hours is remarkable. Usually, there are 2 anchors who alternate every hour or half-hour.

As for Tom "The King" Hughes, it would be great if he were hosting mornings, mostly introducing traffic, weather and sports segments, with a few of his famous witticisms thrown in. But, I believe he is around 65 years old and probably does not want to do a daily news program. Though, he would make a great fill-in news anchor or alternating hours with John Lisk.

Overall, this is a great sounding station. You have to applaud Lou and the boys in getting this station up and running and sounding professional.
