TOM HUTYLER NEW KOMO AFTERNOON HOST

Tom Hutlyer will be the new KOMO afternoon host. Congrads to Tom ! Reminds me of when we had him on the air for the "KVI Afternoon Update."

Nevertheless, changing both the morning and afternoon hosts simultaneously is very poor management.

How so? I say "pull the band aid off" and be done with it. Why TWO interruptions when you can have ONE and be done? Just my $0.02.

LOOK Hersh and Tom both have great Seattle Name Power. I've been at several stations that flipped Mornings and Afternoons BAM, it worked in both situations.

But we're talking about reducing Herb Weissbaum's ratings by 95% , by relegating him to a lifestyle talk station. It's not a wise idea to move someone to the same daypart on a competing station owned by the same company. KOMO 1000 will lose listeners in the process to KVI.

If they really want a consumer show, then have Herb do a one hour show on KOMO, 3pm-4pm, or increase the content of consumer issues on the KOMO afternoon news.

They just don't know what they're doing. If they want KVI to succeed, they need the 1590 contracts - Levin, Larson, Savage, Red Eye, etc.

Unless you're Judy DeAngelis, Dick Helton or Bill Yeend, you don't hire personalities for an all news station. Herb Weissbaum isn't even close to that caliber.

Not sure if serious.

Give KVI credit for trying to be unique.

Got a chance to listen this afternoon. Chemistry between the two is non-existent, and that's to be expected considering who Tom's working with.

Tom also did sports, so this "promotion" may be nothing more than a cost-cutting move. We'll see if Mr. Duckworth hires a new PM sports reporter.

And it will also be interesting to see what happens next week when the M's are back in town and Hut needs to be at the Safe. Will they just replay the 3pm hour at 6pm?
