Tom Joyner returns to WRKS

We've been here already with the Fly Jock -- ten years ago, to be exact, when WRKS picked up his syndicated morning drive program to replace the late Isaac Hayes, whose contract was about to expire. It was "The Tom Joyner Morning Show with Isaac Hayes" for the first few months before Black Moses split altogether. However the listener response to Joyner's style led to his stay here lasting only two years.

Fast forward to 2011. Kiss needs a morning show, again. The thing with D.L. Hughley didn't work out, leaving Jacquie Reid -- a journalist, not a jock -- hosting in AM drive. Emmis has money issues. And Joyner can use a clearance in Market One. Come Feb. 7, it'll be a perfect match.

Fans of Bob Slade need not worry: just as before, he's sticking around to do the news and local inserts.

Yes, I do recall when the late Isaac Hayes "babysat" Joyner's show locally on Kiss. It'll be good to have Joyner back in the fold (solo) once again.
