Tom Kent Must've Lost His Voice. . .

His bio has disappeared from the website, replaced by a restaurant ad! None of the other jocks have had those hours added, so I guess they'll be going autopilot 7 to midnight. Strange move from a station that's been surging in the ratings. Do they STILL attract too many 55+ listeners to get ad agency business?

I noticed last week they were not playing the normal Tom Kent show, instead they were playing his "My 70's Show"

I even hate to speculate on this, but with Buckley getting rid of WOR in New York could the Connecticut cluster be next? I suppose this tweaking could be any number of things but you figure they wouldn't be paying top dollar for his show.

Then again, autopilot would be even cheaper.

The folks there care a lot about the station and community. They fully appreciate the part air personalities have played for decades in the awesome history of the Big D. Evenings may not have the same number of listeners as earlier dayparts, but you definitely don't want to try and fit them all in the Big D studio!

Well, it looks like evenings won't be on autopilot for long. On the website, Ron Sedaille is now listed as doing evenings from Monday-Friday as well as Saturday. Congrats to Ron (he really deserves it), and glad to see the station's gone back to having a live and local voice during that slot.

You're making the assumption that it won't be voicetracked. In the days of limited budgets that's always a possibility unless Buckley is still riding the wave of cash from selling their New York property.

I've heard Sedaille's Saturday night show and it's quite good, but he needs to lose the 1960's sweepers and ID's. Far too long and embarassing to listen to.

Actually, that's what makes that show stand out against the rest. It's fun to hear that stuff once in a while. :)

I guess we'll find out on Monday if he's live or Memorex, but either way it will be an improvement to have a strong local personality. And I agree that the classic jingles are a big part of what really make the Saturday night show stand out in my book, and a lot of listeners seem to agree. For a weekly Saturday night show, I don't see the harm in going off the beaten path a little. On weeknights it could get to be overkill (maybe one or two an hour wouldn't hurt), but in all likelihood he'll be sticking to the station's normal formatics.

I've never understood the hate for Tom Kent. It's the best syndicated programming out there, any format.

He's okay, although I am a Dick Bartley loyalist myself.

It probably means nothing, but I didn't hear Charlie Tuna's intro on the WDRC-FM hourly ID at 1 PM. Just the singers with the inserted "-FM" the second time to make the legal ID correct.

That's the best part! The high energy local radio feel!

Tuned in for a bit this evening and heard nothing but jingles and dry segues. I guess Ron's evening stint hasn't started yet.

I was listening to the DRC-FM stream earlier today, and Ron Sedaille was filling in for Floyd Wright at the time. At the end of his fill-in shift, he said that Floyd will be back on 2pm-7pm tomorrow (Wednesday), and..... It was just confirmed on-air that Ron will be IN FACT on from 7pm-Midnight effective tomorrow.

So, Ron will be on weeknights in addition to his Saturday night and Sunday morning shifts..... Oh boy...

Pretty sure the Sunday morning shift is voicetracked, wouldn't be surprised if weeknights are too. They were when Dave Nagle and Grahame Winters were doing 7-12, and the last two hours were canned when Mike Stevens had the shift in the mid-2000s.
