Tom Leykis caught on TMZ

TMZ is a smut show that has no motive other than to rip on celebreties.
It's not news.

Anyway, they have their own website, so why are we talking about them here?

Uhhh, because they had a clip of Tom Leykis who is a Los Angeles radio personality??? Just a guess

I think TMZ is very funny. That's right - they mock celebrities that are so full of themselves they don't even know it.

Leykis is a great example. He does a show about dating (and essentially, using) women for years, but when the curtains are lifted and you see behind the veil of the unseen radio personality, you find out he is fat and slovenly, and one guesses those hotties that he always seems to hang out with are most likely either highly paid escorts or money-grubbing sluts. Either way, it is rather pathetic.

TMZ provides a mechanism for one of life's great lessons. Stars are no better (or worse) than you or me. Anything that taks idol-worship, especially in this town, is a good thing.

Leykis is entertaining, half-way intelligent and like so many in show-biz, insanely lucky to have gotten this far!

He's also a bottom-feeding, pathetic, lonely, insecure, woman-hating radio low-life who behind the Mic, is King-Of-The-World.

People in this country feed the over-inflated, twisted egos of radio/tv/movie personalities. Leykis is simply a by-product of his listeners and everything that's wrong with society.(which is why he's so entertaining)

He's just smart enough to have capitalized (to-the-max of his ability) on it!

Anyone in radio who is entertaining is not lucky. They're good. They deserve success.

What happened to his voice? When he played on the east coast (12+ years ago) his voice seemed rounder. He sounds like an old man now.

Oops...I forgot to mention that Westwood One announced today they were were dropping the Leykis show.
The final shows will be in early March.

My deepest apologies. Here is the story:

Westwood One Drops Tom Leykis (Feb 5, 2009)
All Access reports that Westwood One has told its affilliates that it will be dropping three shows hosted by Tom Leykis from its list of shows. A visit to the Westwood One shows that Tom Leykis is nowhere to be found on the site.
For the past two years, CBS Radio distributed his show to what's left of its own owned station lineup that carried his show. Westwood One distributed his show to the non CBS Radio affillates. Leykis's show is produced from a studio in Hollywood that they're not allowed to mention, so it's not really of ... paramount ... importance anyway.

The final broadcast date for the weekday version of The Tom Leykis Show is set for March 6th, 2009, and the final broadcast date for the "Best of Leykis" and "The Tasting Room" is March 1st.

All Access suggests that Leykis may become a local-only radio show on KLSX 97.1 in the Los Angeles market.

There's no word if Leykis plans to take his show to another syndicator, or if his local-only shows will still be made available for streaming and podcasting.

Funny how Tom always kicks people when they are down but yesterday on the show not even a word of this! I think CBS will dump Tom as soon as possible. The problem is his $ 1.5 million contract.

BTW, the story on the street says Leykis' studio (on a certain motion picture lot with a very close relationship to a major player at both Viacom and CBS) is that it is apparently also the backup studio for the CBS Radio cluster, especially all-newsers KNX and KFWB, which would probably feed other CBS/LA radio stations in the event of a MAJOR disaster, such an an earthquake which could severely hamper operations at theWilshire Broadcast Center--since most radio operations are in a 1966-era skyscraper with steel welds that could conceivably collapse in a big shaker.

It's analog, built by Scott Mason and at Paramount.

It does seem like Leykis is destined for local exposure for the time being now. He has been heavily promoting today that you can listen to him on KLSX and if you can't hear him elsewhere you can check him out on blowmeuptom.com

I think that was his way of hinting at Westwood One dropping him.

By the way he signed his latest contract just in 2007, so 1.5 mil a year for another 3 years is not bad at all.

when you abuse your voice by drinking (and smoking for that matter) plus not using your voice properly, you develop nodes. He sounds like he could be suffering from nodes on his vocal cords. As a trained singer, I could give him some exercises to alleviate that...also bring back the core in his voice. I will say that I listen to him sometimes and I wince because it sounds like it hurts.

I wonder if he abused his vocal cords almost as bad as he did poor Susan in front of the fireplace...
