Tom Leykis Returns to Radio. Uh, sort of

Love him or hate him, 'The Professor' is back 3pm-6pm weekdays however you need an internet connection to hear him because it only on the web at www.blowmeuptom.com. I took a listen to an hour or so it's even more crude than when it was over the air was and even though Tom gives is good shot, something is clearly missing (I think it's the callers).

wel, how many truck drivers are there anyway? Certainly not enough to comprise the core of any radio station's audience. But maybe for a specialty web stream, once you can listen to it uninterrupted from city to city. Something like "satellite radio," huh??

Give him credit for trying to merge the old world of terrestrial radio affiliates with the newer one of online streaming media. And give it more than a week to "work," folks.

The day his show went live it shut down three services because of the volume of requests they were getting to tune into his show... The hardest thing to do in Internet Radio is build a loyal audience so you can appeal to advertisers and Tom has leaped that hurdle in a big way and if he can keep them tuning in he stands to actually make a few pennies....

Oh how I would love to have a show like his someplace on RDSN....

Isn't the radio for guys deal run it's route? At least the Tom version? His syndicated version was loseing altitude when he finally left terrestrial radio. How is Internet going to make it even more fun and exciting for what's left of his worshipers? It didn't do well for Howard.

I don't know you are right maybe the Radio for Guys thing has gotten stale, it will be interesting experiment to watch though. As for Stern I think he was just a few years ahead of the curve with mobile radio & internet, Leykis is striking out into the net game right when its finally coming into its own...

The next 10 years mobile communications and entertainment will explode you can see it happening now, every kid old enough to talk wants to have their own smartphone to play games, listen to music, and communicate with their friends.

I know I am banking on it.....
