Does anyone know if he is dealing with a throat issue? I listened to a little of his show last night, and his voice sounds very bad. It sounds like he has difficulty talking.

Tom is battleing a throat issue and has for quite some time now. His show is just about unlistenable, which I guess is ok since now it matches the remaining programming on the station.

Tom has had this issue for awhile...but alot of people experience voice change with age.

Yeah, age. That and smoking a carton of Camels a day.

Much like the two or three listeners KLLI has carried over since the David Lee Roth days. Ah, memories!

nah dude, that is not an age thing. he sounds like he swallowed a bad of rocks. or, it could be all the bonghits ( perhaps they aren't just sounders).

WOW! quite the group of armchair programmers arent we. Tell me have any of you ever worked in the John Carpenter building? Yea I didnt think so. Have you ever met or worked with Tom Leykus. Well if you did you would know Tom doesn't smoke, except a cigar every now and then. You may not like his show, but I suggest you STFU about any other comment you may have about something you know nothing about! I think so many of the posters on these board know more about "listening" to radio instead of running a station. I know some of the experienced posters(you know who you are) will agree. Too many listeners not enough programmers.

You know, this is called a "forum" for a reason. Without sounding off on the greatness of the Greek empire and engineering genius, forums are typically a open place for people to gather, collect ideas and (wait for it) discuss OPINIONS without fear of revocation. So, while we are OPINING about Leykus' overrated broadcasting, multiple perceived bong hits and overall ramshackled self, let's discuss his ratings... hit it DE... :D

but I digress, many of enjoy this arena because regardless of our proven experience in management or limited months outside of ABS (and yes, we know who you are too :D), we are permitted to share what we think is right, wrong and indifferent in OUR regaled industry. As for working on John Carpenter, you have no clue who used to work on the 10th, 11th and 15th floors before you ever decided Las Colinas really wasn't Spanish for "The Colony". (It's "The Hills" for those of you scoring your Rosetta Stone at home).

So be nice and don't abridge your feelings with cute acronyms. Some of us have programmed. Some of us choose NOT TO and others are fine broadcasting from afar. All of us are listeners... and that is why we are here.

wow, veritas, well said. still, we are talking about tom, and his voice DOES sound like he swallowed a bag of rocks. his 101 show is a 1 trick pony....but, his "tasting room", a great show. the man has talent, and "bored" monkey, some of us do know tom and also know of what we speak. you shouldn't make assumptions.
