Tom Looney from FSR

Has anyone else heard Tom Looney on FSR's three-times-an-hour National Sports Report? The guy is a sound effects freak! Last night he mentioned that the NHL is coming back and played one of those loud horns in the background. Then what really got me was when he did the story about the Titans' new draft pick getting arrested and he played a police siren sound effect in the background. Also, when he runs down the baseball scores, he goes so fast you can hardly understand him.

I think its inappropriate. I listen to the national sports report for the scores and the headlines only, if I wanted to be entertained I'd listen to something else. I think he should be more committed to bringing us the scores than entertaining us with sound effects.

Generally speaking, all of Fox's update anchors are a joke. An update is supposed to provide the listener with news and scores. Fox's anchors treat it like their own personal two-minute talk show tryout. It is painful to listen to.

Tom Looney is a no talent hack. After working for over a decade in radio he is still an update guy. Looney has accomplished nothing in the sports radio business. He is no closer to hosting a sports show than the day he started.

I like Looney, but only as an update guy. I don't think he'd cut it as a talk show host. I do like the sound effects, though, especially the Pac-Man effects after he gets bitten by the ghost monsters.
______________

I agree, Looney isn't so bad. I liked him better when he only made occasional comments on Brick's show, but he's tolerable. Brick is sure giving him a lot of latitude though, maybe more than he should. It's not like I'm desperate to hear 'Pop Looney' every night.
______________

I may be on an island....

Back when I used to live in LA---seems like ~ 2000---Looney had an afternoon show with a partner...his name escapes me.

I really, really liked it; Looney was a funny cat.

I hate his FSR updates, but I'll give him the credit he deserves for the year of fun he gave me.
