Tom Murphy Feature

With the changeover of this website, I neglected to mention last week that the World Famous Tom Murphy has a newly featured aircheck from KJR. Seattle on Memorial Day, 1967. (It seems Tom has worked most holidays during his career.) What a blast it must be to have had the opportunity to play the greatest music of all time when it was new. There was also another feature from TM Productions for a ’73 demo for a jingle series for WNBC Radio in NYC. I’ll assume that this is/was Tom’s company. Unfortunately, you now have to be a $$$ subscriber to hear the classic airchecks of the past.Interesting fact about Tom is it was mentioned that he worked with both Larry Lujack and the Real Don Steele. Very impressive, Mr. Murphy! Keep on truckin’ Tom! 8)

I can't seem to get edit down right yet but you'll find the aircheck at www.reelradio.com.

Sorry John... The Tom Murphy you mention isn't the same one here at KOOL. The Tom Murphy here never worked in Seattle or with Larry Lujack. The Tom Murphy here did work with Charlie Van Dyke at WRKO/Boston however.

OOPS!

Record the date and time as this rarely happens.....Thanks folks...... Uncle Johnny stands corrected! ;)

Hey, this is the former DJTommyR. I haven't been a "DJ" for many years, and I'm sure not going through the trouble of trying to get my old account back.Anyway...I see we have language filters on the board now. I guess we can't talk about the great Charlie Van ------, or the head writer of The Alan Brady Show, Dick Van ------. Too bad.>>So I see "Dick" is acceptable. Oooookaaaaay...

RENDA GM RELEASED

Renda/Jacksonville GM Bill Scull was let go today. Good luck in finding another job. Now maybe the Renda family will get smart and bring Pat Garrett in. Lord, can anyone who runs Renda hear KOOL. The music is all over the place and the it's never going to generate revenue with Briggs as PD. Mr Renda getta grip. Sales would happen if the station got some respect.

Don't speak if you don't know what you are talking about. The station is consistently outbilling the old WWRR and is blowing away last years numbers. The problem is marketing! Marketing and marketing. Have you listened to Eagle lately.
