Tom Prestigiacomo

You may be right about the CA story, GP, but, when it does come down, if at all, it will be more than a week old.

BTW, Peach, I visited your myspace page... Envy me. I have met Richard Simmons (twice, actually) and have an autographed picture here in my home office. Yes, he did sign it "Love Richard." Sadly, no Eddie Izzard yet. But, I would choose cake over death.

 Dang....LOVE me some Richard!! And I would have cake as well! ;)

Ummm.....death please.....NO WAIT...I MEANT CAKE!!!!

You're lucky I'm church of England

Seriously though, all the best to Tom. He'll have a great time in that building!

This is a HUGE coup for Citadel.

It's still unimaginable to me that Entercom didn't slide Tom into the WRVR afternoon chair, particularly after Larry decided to pursue his new production gig.

The ten-hour block of Bill Bannister into Tom Prestigiacomo would have been formidable. Each guy a superb broadcaster with 25+ years in the market. Each guy routinely outperforming his station overall. Each guy with tremendous name recognition and great female numbers. I don't get it.

With Tom on board, KIM-FM better not think that four hours of Tom and 20 hours of automation is going to get it done. They will need a morning show. A live midday person on the air would be nice. They must do a multi-media campaign to let folks know who they are. If I'm doing the math right, 99 people out of 100 do not listen to KIM-FM.

They must go outside the boundaries of their station to pull more people into the tent.

If they do, this could get interesting.

I would bet that Entercom wanted to put Tom in afternoons on 'RVR, that would've been a programming no-brainer. ;D

Citadel has quickly gathered some of the best and brightest talent in Memphis - Jarman, Bev, Danni and now Tom - along with the proven folks already in the building. The numbers are reflecting the (lack of) wisdom at Entercom & CC from losing Conley, Tom, Hart, Jarman, etc.

You're right, Kenny, they've got to market it, and make KIM more than just Tom-radio...and if they do, they will be a force to reckoned with. If they don't, KIM will just be flavor of the year at 98.9

Okay, this is the third time I have tried to post on this thing...... My thanks to all of you for all of your words; kind and/ or constructive. I have enjoyed my past and am properly excited about the future. You're right, JP, this is a building full of great people and it's a blast to be working again with Henry Nelson and others. KB, I am a big believer in that old saying: "Nothing great was ever achieved without marketing" and ya'll should know I am only the first piece of the puzzle. T's & R's to Lance Tidwell if you think you want to take a ride with KIM.

Sincerely,

Tom

P.s. You know, Catholicism, we believed in the teachings of Cathol, and everything it stood for.

Man it's good seeing you here Tom! Good luck with the new gig, and play "Everybody wants to rule the world" for me Monday will you?

CFKane

By the way, "Or death? I'll have the chicken..." ;D

Thomas Joseph... great to see you here!

All of us who have worked with you in the past, I'm sure, wish you nothing but the best. Too bad it has to happen under the shadow of the sad news of the death of Engelbert Humperdinck. You heard he died, right?

DE,
I am glad to respond to your 648th post with my second.... now to your question, you may choose:

A. I thought the same. Turns out it was Vinglebert Wingledanck, or

B. Sad news travels slow.. I still have some of his Reinhardt collabortions. Dreadful hard to find a good Victrola these days

Oh, let the "Izzard fest" begin... er, continue

TJP

and would someone please fix the wiki?

I just have to say TP, that I am MOST impressed by your handsome new school picture. I haven't quite found the perfect caption yet, but I'm working on it. ::)

Tom,

Good luck tomorrow during your first day on KIM. Remember these simple rules and you will do well on the radio.

Smile when you speak on-air. The listeners call tell if you are having fun.

Introduce yourself when you first crack the mic. There are many people that have not run across the afternoon drive shift on FM 100 in the last 27 years.

Tell a story that relates the music to your life or the life of the average listener.

Try to come up with a "hook". Maybe a daily sign-off line will catch on with the "Friends Of KIM".

Don't get too used to the format in case they decide to change it soon.

Play nice with all of the other members of the airstaff. I've heard that Casey is such a diva he will only work on weekends.

rofl...yeah, and be yourself. The listeners will know if you're faking it.

Tom not do well? Tom not have a good hook? Tom not smiling on the air? I can see his smile everytime he opens the mic. You mean someone out there hasn't heard TP? Tom always has fun thats one of the great things about him. It's nice to hear a vet who still loves radio. Best wishes on your new gig TP.

Tom, In the words of Leslie Nielsen... "Good luck, and we're all counting on you...
