Tom Prestigiacomo

it's obvious wendy wants to work at kim, why would she be on their side so much?
tom does sound tired and old. he is proving why no one wants to hear jocks anymore. he really has nothing to say. has anyone heard one break where tom said something that was compelling?
and steve was nothing without ron.

I can't believe you guys are dissing Tom this way. Just because someone likes Tom's work doesn't make them a groupie. Wendi Like myself and many others (and I know others that know Tom and his work) just recognizes great talent when she hears it. Tom is one of the few left who is still having fun and still sounding good. And Tom often has good things to say. Tom could work at any station and sound good, because he is a Pro and loves what he does. Go get 'em Presto! And as far as Steve goes he doesn't need any help. He did a good midday show forever on his own. He has a good personality as well. Hey Wendi it's nice to hear people say positive things on this board. I hope you get back to your first love radio soon.

There are a few folks around here who will trash others if they are successful in the business, especially if they have been around a long time. I think Wendi has it pegged. Bitter, or jealous.

Tom has talent, and the times we've chatted in person (not that he could pick me out of a lineup) he was a well-mannered guy--something increasingly rare in radio.

Wendi has talent, and could pick me out of a lineup--it was a blast to work with her. She has a positive comment about Tom, and for that she's a "groupie"?

Tell you what, Booker and Elvez. Let's compare your track records with theirs--you can start with your real names, and go from there. If you can't bring yourselves to do that, you will only reinforce the general perception of your comments as being insubstantial, in addition to the previous estimates others have posted.

Yo Wendi! Can I be in the "I Love Tom Prestigiacomo Fan Club" too? ;D I'm proud to say I'm a Tom groupie/fan/whatever you want to call it. I'm 24 years old, I've listened to Tom my ENTIRE life, and after working with him at FM100 and getting to know him, he's one of the finest people I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. Radio without Tom is just something I'm not looking forward to. I'm so happy he's on another station and I wish him nothing but the best! I got the biggest smile on my face when I heard him on the 20th saying "Welcome home teachers!" GO TOM! (when's our next fan club meeting?) ;)

As they say.....don't hate the player, hate the game. The earlier comments don't bother me, it only proves my earlier post.

P.S. Mike.....I would be frightened if you were ever truly in a lineup! ;) Miss ya tons!!!

I've never heard Tom on the air in my life. I have seen him doing WKNO-TV Auction work on occasion and I think I worked with him on it one year. I worked radio in Memphis from 1969 till this year. I have never heard a word said against Tom or his ability in all that time, but I have heard clients common to my station and his speak highly of his work and personality. I've been in meetings where his name came up as the competition and was involved in planning for counter-programming, but never in those meetings was a negative word uttered against him as an individual.

All to say my impression is and always has been that Tom is a talented, tough competitor and I'm glad to say it was a pleasure to fight him through the years. He IS worthy.

Mike,

My post was commenting on the fact that Wendy always jumps whenever anyone dares to say anything bad about Tom. Thus, the groupie joke.

You will never catch me saying anything negative about Presto.

Some of us (at least me) don't reveal our real names due to our positions in work. If and when I get nuked from my current position, I will be happy to talk about myself. Yes, I will let you know if I get fired.

I don't care for Wendy at all on the air but I do think she is a nice person in real life.

Glad to hear it. If it's prudent for you to go the "secret identity" route, I understand--but it would be nice if you understood that doing so diminishes the heft of your commentary.

Wendi Bob has a solid sense of humor, good timing, and is quick on the air. She's always connected well with her listenership. Plus, she sings opera.

Bogus - play nice or go home.

Whether or not you care for someone on air is entirely subjective, but it is your own opinion, and you're entitled to it. Judge someone on their technical abilities or compelling breaks or if they communicate their personality to their P1's....that's all fine, and leads to great discussion. And if they have other talents, that only makes them a more interesting personality - whether it relates to radio or not.
But leave the cheap shots for the 12-year olds.

I have nothing to say to this, but "WOW". How long have you been in town? No one wants to hear jocks anymore because jocks can't be jocks anymore. It's news, traffic, weather. Anything else probably gets squashed by the squirrelly, overly paranoid program director who is overly worried about the FCC or better yet, worried that the "compelling" content the jock is spewing is not appealing at the moment to the 27-yr-old-single-white-childless-female who turns to FM100 of all places to get her Linkin Park fix on..

And saying Steve was nothing without Ron is about as asinine as saying Joe Birch is nothing without Dave Brown. Come on....

Well, c'mon. You're talking about THE Dave Brown...

:D

I kid, I kid.

Personally, I think it's the other way around... but then again, I've had a secret crush on Steve Conley since my very first call to a radio station in 1983 and he told me I gave "good phone"...

I like Press Jocotomomo as much as anybody....but.....really.....12 pages?
