Tom Shannon out at The Rose

Tom Shannon out after 12 years at The Rose. Too bad, good jock and good guy. It is the consultant/research weenies that ought to be gone. Why do they insist on hanging on to them, much less, not taking a dump without running it by the consultant?

Most stations in today's world can't see the forest for the trees. They don't even realize they have a good thing going. It's the old addage..."if it aint' broke, don't fix it." These cheap outfits want to make change for the sake of change. They realize that the more experience a person EARNS at a particular station, they'll have to pay out more benefits.

I'm sick of these lousy owners and small-time thinking mom-and-pop operations. And, I'm glad that I'm done with the business after 35 years and now in the college ranks teaching and enjoying life.

A word to the wise out there, don't put all your eggs into one basket. Earn a higher education degree and do something with it.

WOW!...
This is a big shock to all...I would like to wish the very best to Tom and his family.
What in the world could Baldwin be thinking on this move?!

Call me!

Doc! ???

What a shame, Tom Shannon built that station to consistent number 1 in their female demo. I have known him a long time and he has been a winner at every station he has worked for. If there is a local opening he should get it!

Dennis Mitchell from LAN is moving across town to be the new morning host for the Rose. Word on the street is he will be joined by his former partner at Cool Pop Michelle Cruz. Who would ever have thought that anything associated with "Cool Pop" let alone its morning show would rise from the ashes.

Was Shannon PD of WSJW too? when will they drop smooth jazz and go back to rock on 92.7? smooth jazz is a dying format it seems. WJJZ came back in Philly but its ratings have not been great.

If Yocco is correct with his post of the re-teaming "Michelle & Mitchell' for mornings on
The Rose?...I would imagine WARM & MIX are popping champagne in the hallways.
If true, I predict The Rose is about to become a 2 share station in Lancaster York & Harrisburg.

Doc ???

I believe the biggest issue was the Morning show. Tom is a nice guy, but it was unimaginative and not well prepped. Example: after the VA Tech shooting, and campuses focusing on security, they didn't use the opportunity to give Millersville airtime to talk about it. It was on a silver platter...
Things like that matter. You have to be quick to jump on things and make it local.
Michelle and Dennis have grown a great deal since their Cool Pop days and will surprise you.
Good luck to Tom and also to the Rose.

I don't think he's at any station in the market right now. His former partner Val Baldwin is at WIOV doing mid-days and production director.
