Sad to hear the news that we lost Tom Snyder. His late night show was a treasure. No studio audience. Just Tom and his guest sitting on two chairs. You felt as if it was just Snyder, the guest, and you.

I used to listen to him on his radio show driving back from Lightning games when the Ning were starting up. Also He had the late show after Letterman. He used to have a show on NBC TV and was replaced by Letterman. I also remember him doing TV news in New york.
But his late show was great. I just got a DVD of some of his best work about three weeks ago.

I've recently seen some clips of him anchoring the news in L.A., NYC (on WABC's Eyewittness News in its prime), and Philly. He was an outstanding local news anchor. Brought the broadcast to life. I also saw he anchored the Sunday night NBC Nightly News for a time, I don't remember that.

By the way, the late night show on NBC was "Tomorrow". Remember the Lennon interview?

I have tape of Tomorrow when Snyder (surrounded by the usual clouds of cigarette smoke) interviewed Walter Koenig, James Doohan, and De Kelly. It's hilarious how little Tom knew about Star Trek, and how spacy the discussion becomes. (Not quite as bad overall as Al Roker's interview with Nana Visitor, who played Kira Naris on ST-DS9. Roker calls her character "Kira Nursie".)
