Tom Snyder

i once sent a letter to dan accroid during his saturday night live days and i suggested a skit where dan was tom snyder and tom snyder was a tom snyder impersinator contest winner and dan in a reply said he doesn`t think snyder would go for it.he didn`t like the skits much.

just an interesting fact.

Later in his career, he mellowed out on this fact. Ackroyd hosted SNL during Tom's CBS run (95-99) and Tom and his folks graciously
"sent over" the opening sequence and graphic package for an updated skit; and Tom ran part of the skit the following week on his show.

I know Tom was featured on SNL during the late 90s in one of those "TV Funhouse" sketches. It had audio of Tom interviewing Dolly Parton and after SNL got ahold of it, a cartoon was presented which showed Tom following Dolly all over the city stalking her as he interviewed her.

Tom said after he played the SNL sketch on his show that he would take whatever publicity SNL & NBC wanted to give him.

...Tom told me the SNL impression he really didn't like was Joe Piscopo's, after Tomorrow was cancelled. He thought it was downright mean, and was surprised Piscopo would play him that way...
