Tom "T-Bone" Scheppke Now at X 106.7

That's great news. He's a walking encyclopedia of S.A. Rock history. I think I'll call him up and ask if he will put some Moxy or some April Wine...

"I look forward to being a part of San Antonio's Most Commercial Free Classic Rock...X106.7!" These quotes always make the sales people wince.

I wouldn't count on it but if KTKX is getting KZEP's old DJs, maybe KTKX will take them over?

T-Bone's voice is all over promos for the Journey/Night Ranger/Foreigner ticket giveaways as I tuned in on my way home this evening. He's a great talent that does connect with the 40+ blue collar rockers in this city. When I heard Cox was shopping for air talent, I wondered if this might happen--and it did. A media blitz, well placed "appearances" on TV, and his presence at events this summer/fall in San Antonio should help the cause.

There hasn't been as much discussion here about "X106-7" recently, and while I personally wish for more classic/90's alternative on a station named "X", their ultra-familiar music mix, commercial free music sweeps, and no frills imaging stand out. It almost sounds like a rock version of KONO for blue collar dudes 35-54. Last time I checked, our fair city has a fair share of that demo available and underserved.

They might be on to something at 106.7--which, dare I say, hasn't happened...EVER.

They could have probably made a go with Power 106.7 but they got caught in the advertising dollar demise that followed the Wall Street collapse in 2008. When the dollars dried up it was cheaper to go with automated syndicated talk shows, so they flipped the switch.

So does this mean 106.7 isn't going to flip?

LOL, of course. When a station fires their DJ's, that usually means the format's doing well and the channel will remain for 10 more years.
This also probably means that Cox is giving up on 104.9.

//Sarcasm over

Let's see if 104.9 launches and KTKX flips for Christmas.
