Tom Tiberi

Former 97 Rock night guy, arguably one of the best rock radio night guys in America, Slick Tom Tiberi steps into the future with his own website and daily podcast at http://www.slicktom.com/slickcast.php. Good to hear his irreverent and topical takes from real to the ridiculous.

Phew! When I saw the subject, and the way things on this board have gone lately, I thought the Slick one might have departed. Glad to hear that's not the truth! I enjoys enjoyed Slick on 97 Rock and haven't listened to the station after 7p since he left.

used to listen to 97 rock alot...but it doesn't sound like it used to...new dj's, more syndicated programs, the Bills.......I wish 97 rock would play more hair bands and rare classics....I like listening to 103.3 the edge when I am in Buffalo.

While I've known of Tom for years, I'm not that familiar with his on-air work that brought him success while at 97 ROCK.  From viewing his site and listening to his initial podcast, it seems he might be taking a page from Jerry Del Colliano's blog, "Inside Music Media".

Jerry suggests that this just might be the radio of the future.  Short, relevant podcasts that can be downloaded and listened to on demand much the way many of us are using DVRs to watch favorite television shows today.

I congratulate Tom for stepping out on the leading edge - I hope he's successful in developing an audience and monetizing his new venture.  Let's see how many others join him and follow in his footsteps in the months ahead.

Keyword, "monetizing." Make money on it. Gotta sell it. If Facebook can't figure out how to "monetize" their product, it makes me wonder how half of us pikers ever will. I expect Tiberi's first client to be a strip joint or a tat shop. Whatever it takes, afterall, their money's green too.

Yeah Coldfinger... Facebook is having a REAL hard time "monetizing" there revenue is only growing from 500million to the billions within 5 years...

Good call... I bet your sales guy in the market too, thinking Facebook and Twitter and the internet are the enemy for radio... Smart... ::) No wonder this industry can't get it's head out of it's rear end

It was hyperbole. Nuance is sometimes lost on these board.

Slick Tom is also filling in for me on WECK (and WLVL) tomorrow and Friday. 4-7pm. Tune in.
