Tommy Smith

Per a report on channel 7, Tommy Smith was arrested on seven different charges related to him driving under the influence of alcohol on Interstate 630 in Little Rock.

Very sad details. It happened at 2 pm yesterday afternoon, with police saying his vehicle hit another on I-430 near the Col. Glenn exit and that Smith kept going. He was finally stopped many miles away on I-630 at Fair Park.

He has gone public in the past about his problems and has had treatment. I recall reading a moving profile last year in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette's High Profile section, which runs on Sundays.

Comments reacting to the posting on the Arkansas Times web site were very interesting, including suggestions he bring his radio audience along as he seeks treatment that will probably be required and one very pointed comment suggesting The Buzz management has looked the other way regarding his problems.

Staying clean and sober is hard to do. He's an icon in this market and I hope he can do it.

No surprise to me. Never met Tommy however when I came into the market in 2008-2009 (thank GOD no longer there ) I learned of all the Tommy Smith stories, during his CC days stories of cocaine and alcohol abuse and everyone turned their heads (again before I got there ) I guess because this guy got ratings. then he went to another group ( Citidel I guess) and continued the same coke problem. I dont care what someone does to themselves that is a personal choice however when you DRIVE and danger others that is a serious problem, can you imagine if he crashed his car into a family ? maybe he did. [EDIT*]have him serve time, real time in prison. [EDIT*]. Tommy u can party all u want but do not drive and danger others you ------ !

Ahh yes, beachbumstar, you who have never sinned are surely entitled to cast that first stone. But I believe when Jesus laid out that thought, he probably didn't mean for you to dump a whole quarry on the sinner; maybe even meant for it to be presented a little more compassionately. But give us some more of your over-the-top self-righteousness and I'm sure our Editor will take you outside, too.

He has a lot to live for, and a lot of life left...but he has to want it and work at it every day. Here's wishing him success.

Local DJ Tommy Smith pleads not guilty

LITTLE ROCK, AR – An attorney for Buzz DJ Tommy Smith entered a plea of not guilty Tuesday afternoon.

Smith, host of The Show with No Name on 103.7 The Buzz, previously faced a felony drug charge for being in possession of prescription drugs without a prescription, however that charge was reduced to possession of a controlled substance – making it a misdemeanor instead of a felony.

Smith will have a bench trial in front of Judge Wayne Gruber on August 31.

Smith was arrested on May 26 in connection to a hit and run accident and was charged with DWI, possession of a controlled substance, drinking in public, failure to stop after an accident, refusal to submit to a chemical test, crossing the median, and following too close. His bond was set at $17,500.

I worked in the Clear Channel building when K-Duck 100 and Magic 105 were
merged and I never heard one bad thing about Tommy. The guy was always
nice to me and my coworkers. Tommy deserves a fesh start and I think it
it awesome that management is sticking by him.
