Tonight Show Take 2

Just wondering... Does Jay move to the new studio that Conan is currently occupying? Does he bring back his lame old theme song? And the lame logo?

My guesses would be: Yes to the first question...why waste all the money they spent to build the studio? No doubt they will redecorate, however. No to the second and third questions. They'll want the show to look "new" and "fresh."

1. They probably will use Jay's current NBC Burbank set, with minor modifications (removal of anything with the number 10 on it). Universal Studios set will be abandoned.

2. Either the old or current Jay Leno Show music will be used. Most likely the old theme, as they want to get everything back to the way it was.

3. Old logo. They only have a few weeks to get everything together.

Same 10pm Jay Leno Show set with a desk, couches added and other minor set tweeks.

Old musical theme.

Old pre-Conan Tonight Show opening montage.

If NBC decides to change anything else, they're stupid.... But then again, that has been proven over the last few weeks. Their best bet is to pretend that nothing happened.

I bet they stick Jay back in his old studio, use his old theme and just try to pretend that he never left. I don't think Stuttering John will be back as announcer though. My hunch is that they were looking for an excuse to push him out the door.

Besides being a lame theme, I believe that Branford Marsalis wrote that theme. I am sure Jay does not want to pay him residuals. I'm thinking he'll want Kevin Eubanks to compose a new theme at the least.

Wrong...
It has already been reported by AP that Leno will remain in the new studio, although I imagine he'll be seated back at the desk full time.

To bad Jay will be staying in the new stuidio. I liked the old one better. The new one seems flat. There is just no dimension to the new studio. Like I said.... IT'S FLAT. That new theme is God awful as well. The new announcer is bland too. So ilet me see if I gvot this right.... they plan on keeping everything that made the 10 PM show so bad that it was canceled in 4 months? Yep.... great idea. *rolls eyes*

My guess on the studio situation is that they would continue to use the current Burbank studio as a temporary home for the Tonight Show until they modify the Stage 1 studio at Universal for Leno. If not, then I wonder what they will do with that studio at Universal since they spend so much money on it. And wasn't the Burbank Studios supposed to be sold off or do NBC change their mind?

It's kind of sad that Conan's Tonight Show set won't be used anymore after his last show. It was such a nice upgrade from that odd looking last Late Night set that he had. Assuming if he does go to Fox, here's hoping his next show's set can top that Tonight Show set.

I'm thinking it'll be back to the old Tonight Show logo and theme with Stuttering John returning as announcer. The set will be modified a bit to include a new desk and couch (or better yet, bring back the previous one).

Thankfully, "10@10/9@9", "Earn Your Plug", and "Green Car Challenge" will be gone, but the other bits will remain along with the usual Headlines and Jaywalking.

Considering the last time they had a daily late-night show was "The Chevy Chase Show" in 1993, I don't believe the bar is set particularly high for Fox, in that regard.

So here is a more immediate question: What happens for the next three weeks before the Olympics? Will there be reruns of Conan or Leno, or will there be guest hosts?

I think just Conan reruns. At least according to Tvguide.com when I looked up my local listings.

You're probably right. I'm guessing the Tonight Show set is the most expensive out of all the current major network late night sets. Personally, I would like to see the style of the blueish late '90s Late Night set be brought back for Conan's next show.

I too really loved that particular set.

I'm starting to think Andy Richter is a curse. Conan's show in New York was in danger of being canceled. Then Andy leaves and the show started doing better. Now Andy came back and look what happens. If Conan gets a new show on FOX, he seriously might want to consider keeping certain people away from it. Nothing against Andy, but everything he becomes a part of seems to have really bad luck!
