Tonight we're gonna party like it's 1966 (again)

Actually not that many stiffs here. OK so forget about Patti Page, Nancy Sinatra, Mel Carter, & Billy Joe Royal. The majority of this list remained on oldies radio for quite a few years & some are still around even on classic hits stations. I have no idea where Lonely Street by The Others came from as I've never heard of it in my life but maybe Epsilon has the 45 tucked alphabetically in between Hot Smoke & Sassafras by Bubble Puppy & A Question Of Temperature by Balloon Farm :)

You got me! I don't remember it either.

They apparently were a local band made up of URI students who got a contract with RCA. There is a 30-second clip of it here:

Somehow I just don't picture Salty as having been a big Kinks fan ;-)

Well maybe he tolerated them until Lola came along.

I figured out why radio was probably better back then...not that I have any recollection of 1966 radio. You either listened to top 40 or soft music. If you played popular music you had to be good to appeal to everyone who listened to the format. None of this appealing to 28 women in Barrington between 7 & 8:45AM,etc,etc,etc. When did everyone look at their demographic breakdowns first then tout who they tried to target.
