What a bunch of Sh*t! lol. No wonder I barely listened to the radio as a little kid. The only thing I like on that list is Elton John and Springsteen.

As a member of the graduating class of 1975 I must say that is quite a list. I am not a big fan of some of it, but hey, who am I? To paraphrase one of my favorite people in the whole wide world, "Play it loud, play it proud and by all means, draw a crowd".

So what was going on Memorial Day, 1975?

If you were listening to top 40 radio in 1975 that's what you were into. Before my time to have heard these songs when they were currents but there's a mixture of a lot of genres: rock, disco, country, and stuff that had more of an adult appeal. I've never heard a few of them. The playlist seems more balanced than a top 40 playlist of today but I bet a lot of these songs were dayparted heavily. It's almost as of there was no one type of music that dominated the charts but I also notice the albums that were popular were rockers.

Are you serious SKYNET????....Those are all GREAT songs...do you like ANYTHING?

Well we clearly have a different taste in music. There are many songs that I do like from that era, but in my opinion most of those songs are garbage. As I look over the list again there are a few songs which I missed. Bowie is good. Eagles are excellent and I like the Bee Gees too. I'll even admit to liking Abba. But none of the songs listed are my favorites by those particular artists. Oh well..... it doesn't really matter anyway. What is crap to me will be someone elses favorite and vice versa. Thanks for posting that list though. That was an interesting flashback. Even though it's one that I would rather forget. lol

Just think. The jocks were live and they were probably staffed 24-7. The station was programmed in the building. The music director and program director actually chose the music themselves. There was no computer doing anything. Nobody was yakking about American Idol and Dancing With The Stars. Talk about "in memorium"!

Feelings had to be one of the most hated songs by CHR jocks in the 70's. It took forever for CHR radio to even accept that it was a hit as AC played it to death before it crossed over and it just never seemed to leave the radio. It was just one of those songs everyone knew had to be played but no one wanted to admit it. Also, JB105 playing a Charlie Quintal song surprises me. He was a local artist. That had to be relegated to midday and overnight airplay only.

And now it can be said that Skynet likes Abba

Correct on all counts.

Right you are. I remember everyone slow dancing to that song, myself included, but I never really liked it (the song that is). It sounded to me like whining and droning on. But it was a hit.

..feelings, was right up there with "You light up my life"...and both too short for a bathroom break..

I remember playing every single single...

I'd send that long LP version of "Miracles" wafting-through-the-night twice per night 7-midnight, alternating odd/even hours on odd/even dates.

And "It Only Takes A Minute" by Tavares -- mastered on tape -- sounds as-good-as anything laid-down today, even with all the digital production capability now available. New Bedford's own.

Sorry, John; but calling you out. As usual, dropping a comment before checking out what is what.

Holland, You mean New Beaje, right!?!

Holland, the LP version of Miracles was the "erotic" one! You got away with that on WPRO in 1975?
And You Light Up My Life was worse than Feelings because you not only had to deal with the song, but chances are your girlfriend dragged you to see the movie too.

Hmmmm..... let me look at what you wrote. "As usual, dropping a comment before checking out what it is".
Well as usual I think you just want to give me a hard time. To set the record straight, I did look at the list and I did think mostly everything on it was crap. But I looked a few more times and I found a few other songs that arn't so bad. So just calm down.. will ya?
