Tonights Episode Of South Park

Any more over the line than the SP episode "It Hits The Fan", where they uttered the "S" word 162 times?

I guess "It Hits..." could be seen as more of a ground-breaking epsisode than this new one, but "It Hits..." had a better pop-culture anchor for its main plot, that being the uttering of the "S" word on (I believe) Chicago Hope and the minor media frenzy surrounding it. I haven't heard of anyone faking Tourette's, though I'm sure someone is.

I liked this ep, though. Good way to start the new season.

I thought the show was funny as well, nice start to season. Props for making fun of Chris Hanson! :)

If you really wanted to watch something waayyy over the line, you should have stayed for the Sarah Silverman Program afterwards.

Don't worry, I'm sure Sarah's show will either be moved to another slot or cancelled in a few months... Anyone ever notice that the Wednesday 10:30 PM slot is a revolving door for new series? I mean, I get it, you're trying to build on the South Park audience lead-in, but I can name about a couple dozen shows alone that have been plugged into that slot, and only about a handful ("Reno 911", "Crank Yankers" and "Glick" to a lesser extent) have proven to be successful.

I thought the series "Halfway Home" was decent. Comedy Central here runs off the Pacific feed so the show comes on at 11:30MT.

As for Sarah's program I liked it somewhat back in the spring, and I know it pulled in some very good ratings, though it was Thursday nights. Yes I knew going into it would crude, offensive humor, but last night's episode was a little too much for my taste, and I don't think I'll be watching it again(which Mrs. Genius would greatly appreciate), except for maybe the occasional peek of the first five minutes. ;)

I was surprise that Comedy Central's S&P allowed them to say the s-word, but they still bleep the f-word. Perhaps it was some sort of a deal considering the subject matter of the episode.

Are you talking about this new episode, or the one from a few years ago ("It Hits The Fan") where they said the "S" word over 160 times? I've heard "S" slip out unbleeped during the occasional first-run airing of The Daily Show. The way they see it, if it's past 10pm and on cable, they can get away with it as long as the "S" word itself (context and meaning, I'm told) reaches a certain standard or has a certain artistic merit.

But sometimes those standards and merits aren't needed. As I type this...Sunday morning, 2:39am EST, they're running the South Park movie complete with ALL the swearing. F's, S's, M-F's...all of it, and I love it so. They run something like that (a movie or stand-up special) with uncut audio during the weekend overnights, normally early Sunday morning but sometimes early Saturday morning, too.

I was talking about this past new episode. I already know about their late night "Secret Stash" airings of the movie. My point was that usually they bleep those words in the regular show, besides the It Hits the Fan episode, so I didn't expect for them to leave the s-word alone.
