Tonight's Lead Story on Network News

What a shame! Wait until this same media rips wrestler Chris Benoit apart.

Meanwhile, over in Canada Chris Benoit's death was the top story on ALL the Canadian network newscasts (The National, CTV National News, Global National).

But don't feel bad for us; tonight's CBS Evening News (Harry Smith was subbing for Katie) had a Benoit piece. I dunno if ABC World News w/Charlie Gibson had it as well but NBC Nightly News didn't.

CBS Evening News did not even do a Paris piece. Maybe you should define what broadcast you consider to be "speaking" for all network news.

As for Benoit, he was in CBS' "B" block. That seems reasonable.

Kevin: The man murdered a 7-year old boy by suffocation. Then he strangled his wife. You think he should be defended or protected from "this" media or any other??

Perhaps that's because Harry Smith was anchoring the news that evening instead of Couric. I know that MSNBC's morning news reader, Mika, refused on-air to read anything about Paris Hilton, going as far as shredding the news copy sent to her by the show's producer. Good for her! Meanwhile the story was plastered all over the evening newscasts I was watching. Off went the TV.

Charlie Gibson did have a story about Chris Benoit,
although his lead story last night was about Congressional
Republicans beginning to turn against Bush on Iraq. He
had nothing about Paris Hilton (I think there was a short
piece Monday).

Good Morning America had Robin Roberts interviewing the
local D.A. in Fayetteville, GA this morning. If either Today
or The Early Show had a Benoit story, I didn't see it.

No, he shouldn't. I wrote that BEFORE I learned how he and the others died. I'm not condoning his actions in any way.

Early Show did. Hey, it's a story worth covering. I don't think the news media are out of line covering this at all.

Kevin, Kevin,

Chris is nothing but a body odor ridden, steroid popping, actor who allowed himself to go horribly mad. That's all.

His death only affects 12 year old boys and people who ACT like 12 year old boys.

It's ENTERTAINMENT. Nothing more.

If his death would have been the top story on the network news EVERY NEWSPAPER in the US would (rightfully) have MOCKED the daylights out of the bunch of LOSERS who made that decision.

(to quote another cartoon character MUCH more famous than ANY wrestler, BUGS BUNNY, "DON'T YOU KNOW THERE'S A WAR ON???"

My sympathies at your loss. Peace!

Oh...as for the entertainment news shows, "Entertainment Tonight", "The Insider", and "Inside Edition" all had short pieces on Benoit as well on Tuesday (after getting the "Paris out of jail" mess out of the way first).

Access Hollywood, Extra, E! News--NOTHING!!!!!
